Saints Row 2 gets August 26 release, website launched
What we're wondering, however, is if this title will actually click with PS3 gamers. The original Saints Row was never released on the PS3; this is the debut for the series on our shiny console. Interested, not interested? While you ponder that, you can check out the official website that just launched.

Interesting, Saints Row has always been a 36 franchise, GTA has always been a Playstation franchise...

But, both games were timed exclusives for the PS2, so that's something I guess. I'm sure they sold a lot better on PS2, anyway.

I never said GTA series was not on Xbox, but it's always been asscioated with Playstation. I do wonder if the general public even know the 360 has DLC sometime in the future.
I suspect 360/PS3 split of GTA IV will be 50/50, despite the larger install base of 360...

Yeah the girl definitely attracts =P.
Other than that, eh not too hot for the game if at all.

This game would have been sooo much more profitable if it was released before GTA. If doesn't get stellar reviews people won't even look at it after GTA

I'm not interested. I think the game will get reviews between a 6 and 8 on average. I don't "think" it'll introduce anything "new" but will still provide adequate graphics and online play. But most of its sales will be generated by those that are still hyped up by GTAIV but looking for a change of scenery. But for the "hardcore" and those that don't like to play 'lesser" versions of great games, GTA will satisfy. Just my thoughts/predictions.

I've beat the first on a friend's 360. Sure it feels like a GTA clone at times, but it takes GTA's formula and adds to it.
My favorite parts of this game is the customizable main character and your role to build up "The Saints" (your gang) to take over other territories, build your reputation and have more guys at any one time in your crew.
There are a variety of mini games and story driven missions that you can choose in the order you want.
The ability to "pimp out" your crib, any car you hijack, and your outfit really add to the personalized story you're creating. If the co-op is done well, it'll definitely have a fighting chance against GTA. I'm excited for both and may have to pick them both up for PS3.

So you have to build your reputation to be able to recruit more gang members so you can take over other territories?
That's great. At least it was when I did the EXACT SAME THING in San Andreas!!!
Seriously, the original Saints Row added nothing to GTA. All it did was recycle some of the same ideas. It was like a dumbed down version of GTA for those that don't understand the social satire of the original.
It may have been just about passable at a time when there was no current-gen GTA (or any other good games for that matter) but GTA4 will make SR2 look embarrassing.
I expect this game to bomb HARD! It will definitely not have "a fighting chance" against GTA! That's just ridiculous.

I played the origonal on the 360, and I personally feel it was a better game then GTA. Now that GTA has had 2 years to steal from SR, GTA4 may be better, but I'm waiting for SR2, not GTA4.

I don't understand why people are bagging this game out so much.
I played it on my friends 360 one time, and yeah it is a lot like GTA, but it seemed fresher and more fun if you just want to run around blowing crap up (the explosions are awesome).
