What a shame! We were all ready to call off the dogs and tell Sony that "all is forgiven" and then the Store update gets delayed an entire day due to "technical difficulties." Still, better late than never - and today's update
is excellent. It's great to see us receiving content (
UT3 maps) on the same day as those in the US. Here's the full release list:
- Gran Turismo 5: Prologue full game (£24.99/€39.99)
- Reel Fishing PS1 game (£3.49/€4.99)
- Eye of Judgment "Set 2" expansion pack (£6.99/€9.99)
- Unreal Tournament 3 map pack (free)
- Turok map pack (£1.99)
- UEFA Euro 2008 demo (free)
- Gran Turismo 5: Prologue TV trailer (free)
- Dark Sector "Veggie Abuse" Trailer (free)
- 4 Dark Sector webisodes (free)
- Everybody's Golf: World Tour trailer (free)
- Eye of Judgment Set 2 trailer (free)
- Dynasty Warriors 6 "Q & A" trailer (free)
Reel Fishing? Really? So much for "quality over quantity" - at the moment we have neither of those things. Sony, please refrain from dumping bad PS1 games
nobody liked on the PSN Store and instead stick to delivering us
real (not reel) classics like
Klonoa and
Blood Omen. We know they're coming, so where are they?
Bittersweet feelings aside, this is a good update and we can only hope things continue like this. Except for the delay. Anyone grabbing
GT5:P off the Store today, or did you pick it up in store?

Ehm isnt that like £6/€10 euro more for GT5P than it is in shops for the bluray? Anyway at that price, no chance im buying a cut down game. I lose more faith in Sony every week. You can order the BRD off the net for £18 ffs.

In Denmark it's 330 DKK online and 300 in stores on disc.
I obviously got the disc version, and can't see whay anyone would pay more money to not have the disc. Maybe to not risk the dangers of leaving the couch?

Who at Sony made the decision to put Reel Fishing on the PSN? Seriously....Sony is smarter than that I would've thought....all the other titles to have come out were what I would call "classic PS games", but this game is just a joke and Sony better learn from this mistake....
Other than that, I'm jealous that I won't be able to grab Prologue for another week and a half!

Good God, £24.99 for the PSN version of GT5P!?
I just bought the Blu Ray version from Blockbuster for £19.99.
What's the point of having games on the PSN when they cost more than the Blu Ray version!

Good shop update this week, looking forward to testing the UEFA game. The pricing for GT5 download is a bit weird, but who cares, I got it in the post yesterday anyway.

Its because the rrp is £24.99. Sony has to charge the rrp on the site so no to annoy retailers. They got away with it with warhawk as it had a headset with it.

I'd like to know if this is just rumor or fact. I suspect its the former.
Its like CD sales online vs retail, if online retailers can sell download versions of CDs for less than you buy them in the shop, why can't Sony sell download versions of the games for less.
Same with Movie downloads.
The answer is that Sony wants to rip all of us off. The GT5P download on the PSN should have been £14.99.
The have no physical medium to produce, only the bandwidth bill, which in no way comes to £14.99 for 1.8GB of bandwidth.
They need to wake up and realise that if game downloads of the PSN has a future (for full games like this, not the mini 'Pain' style games), then they need to offer the games at discount over the shop prices.
I mean, its not even as if the download has everything the BR version has, it has no movies and even lacks the 'Making Of' movie completely.
Not that it really matters to me anyway as I bought the BR version, but had it been available to download for £14.99, I'd have got that instead.

Seems silly to me that anyone would be annoyed sorry I cant believe it. Afterall theres no packaging and no disc. Thats the point of DLC its cheaper and more convenient. If what you say is true im embarassed for Sony.

You are aware of the fact that they automatically charge your credit card if you're too low on funds to buy stuff? You don't even get a reminder. (You can change that preference in you PlaystationNetwork settings, though).

Um, can we say 6 free down loads? Remember you can download off the net six time. You and 6 mates would drop that down to nothing each.

I picked up GT:P for £19.99 in Woolworths in the UK. Why would you download a lesser version, and pay more???
(By lesser, I mean no "making of video").
Sony need to be sensible about their download pricing, as it's currently laughable. This should have been £20 on PSN and £24.99 RRP...

Oh and interestingly enough....... £25 = €31.55. So why does England get it €8.45 cheaper than we do? Good god Sony keep this up, well done.
No chance im touching this game on BRD or DL now. I hope it doesnt happen with SOCOM Confrontation :(

All I want to know is: Where is the GT TV Content?
We have nothing but an intro video here in Oz. I thought there was going to be content on the disc (saving my download quota)...
