The news keeps leaking out of Rockstar today. Images of Liberty City's surprisingly complex subway system have been found at GTAGaming.com. While it doesn't come close to matching the true depth of NYC's real world subway, Rockstar clearly goes beyond any effort in the gaming world to date. Even lesser known NYC locales, like Roosevelt Island, get a treatment in this faux recreation of the Big Apple.
It doesn't take much to imagine the scale of GTA IV. Simply think of all the blocks, buildings and landmarks that fit within this map. It boggles the mind, and makes us wonder if anyone will be playing anything but GTA in the months following its release.

Well, I can assure you that I will be playing Haze in the months after GTAIV's release... Never got into the GTA series after the second one back in the day.

just think a few short weeks away...... Productivity of the world with drop exponentially with the release of GTA..... I know I have banked a few vacation days for the release date.
Just hope Amazon doesn't back-order GTA as long as it did Burnout Paradise for me.

I think they will print enough... I mean, the map has been included with all the games (ps2, xbox, psp) since GTA III

I think he was refering to the game itself not the map.

I'm kinda disappointed that the game is going to have such a large scope. This was my only problem with San Andreas... it was too damn big! I remember reading an article by Rockstar back in the day stating that GTAIV wouldn't be so big it intimidated players. Oh well.

The way the GTA games usually work, they limit where you can go (or where you need to go) at first until you get further along into the game, then open it up over time. Shouldn't be intimidating as long as it's managed well. Besides, everywhere you need to go is clearly marked on the map, so it's not like you can get lost, unless you don't know how to read a map...

What maked San andreas map so frustrating to me was the whole bunch of country side, the city is a much easier map to navigate

well I'll be cancelling my gamefly account when this comes out since I won't be playing anything else until MGS4 hits in June. So between those two games there is no need to pay for other games Im not going to have time to play. Bring on April 29th!!!

Uhhg, they've got the control config setup with the accelerate/brake buttons on the shoulder keys, probably because the 360 only has 2 analogue buttons.
Changing controls back to the old PS2 config is so tiresome, and I hope I can use the analogue buttons.

That will make drive by shooting kinda hard won't it?

Yeah i can't stand shoulder button for driving. I had to change it for motorstorm
I hope to be able to use the classic X accelerate and square to brake/reverse.
I wonder if motion sensing will be used for stuff. Like i dunno, for driving or a mini-game for one of the entertainment places

It's gonna be hard walking away from the GTA:SA SZR server I play on, but this game is going to be incredible. I'm already looking forward to replaying it with good controls on the PC, and hopefully user created mods after that.

Hey bigd7387,
If you actually click on the picture it brings up a bunch of other views of the map and shows closeups of everything including the controls for PS3. Hope this helps

If I could get past the mindless killing, drugs and whatnot, this sounds like it could be an amazing game. Should it turn out that GTA develops a real storyline this time with some deeper meaning, I might just have to try it. Until then, I'll stick with COD and Haze, if it's out.
