I've never really enjoyed watching wrestling that much, cause it's obviously fake and rigged and they are pretty ridiculous actors. But I like the video games, cause the matches aren't rigged and the violence could be real in the video game world. So I'm actually considering this...

If those are your reasons for not watching wrestling, perhaps I can interest you in a little MMA? :) EliteXC, UFC, WEC, IFL.. Take your pick.

Although I have no interest in this game... a UFC video game might be interesting. :-)

I do enjoy some occasional UFC, haven't gotten really into it though. I watch it when it's on.

It's not rigged noob. It's scripted.
But these actors do everything live. There are no outtakes. They are forced to stay in character no matter what happens.
You call it ridiculous, but their acting is very good. Why else do you see them making Motion picture Movies?
I'm not an avid wrestling fan, but I definitely respect most of them.

Yes. And it isn't so much that the acting is bad, the acting is quite good most of the time. It's the writing that sucks. Once WCW and ECW died off and were bought out by WWE, WWE started dropping downhill fast. Not only that but the games did too. I have all of the Smackdown and Smackdown vs Raw games and if you're not a HUGE fan of wrestling and wrestling video games like myself, then Here comes the Pain for PS2 and Smackdown 2 for PS1 are the only WWE worth owning at this point. Also No Mercy for the N64 is awesome. And Day of Reckoning 1 and 2 are amazing on the Gamecube.
This game is worth the $30 if you're a fan or a casual fan but if you don't like wrestling don't get this.

Did you just call me a noob? Seriously? Any argument you have after that is negated by your childish use of internet insults.
I call it rigged, you call it scripted, whatever. The point is they try to pass it off to kids as all being real, and it's obviously not. Sure the wrestlers are amazing athletes to be able to do some of the things they do, and there's some risk involved, but that doesn't make it good.
As for their acting, you think because the Rock has had maybe two movies worth watching, that validates the acting abilities of everyone in the WWE? Get real.

@ Snutz:
ever see that movie "be cool"? it was a terrible movie, and out of all the big names that were in it, i thought the rock's character was the best - he's hilarious as a flamboyant homosexual trying to get an acting gig in la. go figure.

I used to be an avid wrestling fan. Not anymore, kinda got tired of it. I still enjoy the games though. I enjoyed this one but it still has some things its missing and some good things they take out every year which sucks. I wouldnt buy it. I agree with Daniel, i own Here Comes The Pain and i think its the best to get. What else is better than Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar?! but yea, those are my 2 cents.
P.S. The acting, is good. John Cena's movie career acting? HORRIBLE

Guys, wrestlers are NOT good actors. Who ever says this obviously has the lowest standard for acting.

Not to state the obvious but...wouldn't a fan have already bought the game a long time ago? Just saying.

That is a huge price drop. However, the fact remains that Smackdown vs Raw 2008 sucks (especially on the DS). Don't buy the game. Help convince THQ to make a real effort on the series instead of the annual rehash.
