Happy
PAIN day! Those of you who have been anticipating
PAIN all these
weeks months will no doubt be overjoyed to finally see it hit the PSN Store -- and with so many add-on packs too! Those of you who don't care for
PAIN might be a bit disappointed because that's pretty much all their is. Just keep watching that HD
Motorstorm 2 trailer over and over. Here's the full release list:
- PAIN full game (£4.99)
- PAIN "Muffy" add-on (£0.69)
- PAIN "Cookie" add-on (£0.69)
- PAIN "Hung-Lo" add-on (£0.69)
- PAIN "Santa" add-on (£0.69)
- PAIN "Scurv Dogg" add-on (£0.69)
- PAIN "Ginger" add-on (£0.69)
- PAIN "Fun with Explosives" add-on (free)
- Stranglehold map pack (£9.99)
- MotorStorm 2 trailer (free)
This certainly matches up to the "
roadmap" that was leaked, but we'll reserve judgment further until a couple more weeks have gone by. It's nice to see that Europe is now up to date with
PAIN content -- hopefully SCEE can keep us in sync from now on so that we don't have to suffer from any more ridiculous delays. If you're wondering why we haven't mentioned the
Stranglehold pack, it's because it's ridiculously expensive and not worth our time. We're ignoring it and suggest you should too.

They should've given you guys the additional characters for free for making you wait so damn long.

Glad to see PAIN costs exactly the same as it does in the US (with the current £1:$2 exchange rate). Still want High Velocity Bowling over this any day, however. Just looks like a one-weekend game to me.

wtf? Australia gets the Europe updates with some Full HD music videos thrown in for good measure.

That's a bit fail. Australia is under SCEE territory, both New Zealand (where I'm from) and Australia get the exact same updates as the European store (and as Wayne said some music videos). Why do you think we don't get updates until roughly midnight Friday (roughly 10pm Thursday for you)?

Yeah, now Europe can revel in the mediocrity that is PAIN. Let me give you another pointer, High Velocity Bowling is unplayable using its ridiculous sixaxis control scheme, move on if your hoping for that game to be released soon without a patch to allow you to play it using the analog sticks.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, but I have to say I disagree. HVB is extremely fun, and I would have to say the the control scheme works extremely well. Did you follow the instructions on how to hold it? That is just my opinion though.

I agree with Matthew. Bowling is really fun, specially when you play with a lot of people. I have no problems with the control. This is one of those rare games where playing with sixaxis makes the game intuitive and more importantly FUN!!

It is indeed quite funny how America is allowed celebrate St. Patrick's Day when IRELAND isn't, don't you think?
Also, this update is worthless. They make us wait... how long for PAIN? And they give us what in return. One free character? No, no. That'd be asking too much. How greedy of me.
Seeing as a lot of developers play the old "It wasn't ready for time of release" card when they cite DLC, well this was ready a long time. Thanks once again to this blog for letting me know I don't have to waste my time with a visit to the Store for another week at least.

@ClarkyCat,
Perhaps it might help if every major Irish politician and public figure didn't disappear from their beloved Emerald Isle to suck up to the President of the United States and every other American Plastic Paddy every St Patrick's Day?
Just teasing. ;o)
I know what you mean. I haven't visited the PS Store since December.

Yeah that sucks, I was expecting it this week as we've got the last couple of GH DLCs a week after the US store. According to Neversoft the free Dropkick Murphys DLC is "coming soon to PSN Europe", I don't understand why there's always a delay on these things!

@Steve: that’s bothersome, and PS3 Fanboy promised to mention prices in € (though they keep forgetting it all the time). After all, € is the currency in the majority of the EU.

Jem has forgotten to show euro prices in the past and then promptly updated the post.
He'll probably do so again.

Woohoo! Downloaded PAiN!
BIGGEST load of crap I've bought yet. I've heard of "weekenders" - i.e. games you get bored with in a couple of days, but I've never before played a "fifteen minuter".
Another complete waste of human time and effort.
