Criterion is expanding the world of Paradise City. Creative director Alex Ward has revealed that new cars will be available for both the PS3 and 360 versions of the game. However, the more significant news comes in the introduction of new islands to the game. Even better: the DLC will cost a pretty zero dollars. Free. The way DLC used to be. We like it that way.
Each of the islands will offer "a different type of gameplay," but what that means is unclear for now. We're assuming that the islands will still involve cars and racing -- we think. The islands will be free, mandatory software updates so that everyone will be able to access the new content when it goes live. The cars, on the other hand, will have to be paid for.

I've been holding out on picking this one up. This may very well seal the deal for me.
Love it when they give games extra mileage (pun intended).
Rock on :)

I commend them for the free download. That should teach the "pain" guys a lesson, a stupid-extra-character-for-a-dollar downloadable content. Now I could understand 4-5 characters for an extra dollar, but the way they are currently handling stuff.. I hope they don't sell well using this approach, and that people are not willing to buy them. This will lead to more of such despicable act. I may buy Burnout for their generosity.

Criterion have already stated that there will be no split screen play. They said that online is the future of "Multi player"

I don't own Burnout Paradise, but I'm pleased for its owners that its DLC will be free. All DLC, barring major expansion packs, should be free.
