From Crackle:
thatgamecompany, the developers behind flOw and the upcoming flOwer have started a regular feature on the PlayStation.Blog showcasing their game development skills. The 24 Hour Game Jam projects are exactly as they sound - thatgamecompany will develop a small, playable game within a 24 hour time limit. The main objective? To produce something fun. That's what games are all about, right?
The first 24 Hour Game Jam project is a title named Gravediggers and is a multiplayer deathmatch game where you have to collect the skulls of zombies and deposit them in crypts to gain points while avoiding other gravediggers who will kill you for your skull collection. Sound like fun? It looks even more so. There's probably no chance that we'll see any of these Game Jam projects being released to the public, but we can wish. Our favourite part? The sound effects. "Wise from your gwave" hasn't gotten old since we first played Altered Beast all those years ago.

Thank you so much for this POST!!!!!! Could careless about the game, but for the longest time I couldn't think of the name of Altered Beast. I could remember playing it on The old genesis when i was younger, but the only thing i could remember was that you would transform into some creature and that the game would say "Power Up" really weird

I love the concept of getting back to what's fun in games. Lately, all I see are FPS's competing for the best graphics award and I'm downright sick of them! I'd really like to see a return to the days of true innovation, like back during the 80's at the infancy of video games. These "thatgamecompany" guys have the right approach--get rid of all the overpowered graphics and complex programming and just make something that is FUN!

the 80's were hardly the days of 'true innovation' of the 'infancy of video games'.
60's = infancy.
70's = innovation.
80's = perfection.

I'm not talking about the very beginning with games like Pong or Combat, I am referring to when classic games started hitting the arcades in the early 80's such as Joust, Pac Man, Defender, Centipede, etc. Game companies rose up and really started putting out innovative games. Game designers were sought after for their creativity in those days: the guy who came up with Joust had been hired because he sent his resume in rolled up in the mouth of a rubber chicken!

they should make heaps of games like this (maybe improve the graphics just a touch so its easier to see whats going on) and just release them on the psn for like 20-50 cents each. Or put them all together in a pack for $5.
That would be awesome.

lol 20-50 cents each, you guys are freaking cheap! You can't even buy a pack of gum for 25 cents these days, and you trying to buy a game with multiplayer that can entertain you for days or even weeks or even months for 20-50 cents? If I'm not mistaken, they don't even get all the money, Sony gets some of it or something.
Anyway, that does look like fun with people! But they said they won't upgrade it or anything because that's part of the 24 hour rule thing they setup. So doubt we can ever play it anyway.

if it only took them 24 hours, then I'm sure they'd make heaps of money off it. look at the other games on the psn, they would have taken way more than 24 hours to create, and they're $5 or something (i live in Australia, i dunno how much it is in the US), so if it takes about 1 tenth of the time (or less) then it should be priced accordingly.

Err...a game shouldn't be priced based on the time put on to it, but on the effort put on to it and the quality that it offers....
I would gladly pay 5USD for this game.

Looks interesting. Doesn't mean I'd buy it, given the opportunity, but it looks like something I'd play if it were free or VERY cheap. Just not my style, I'd say...
