Dark Sector's multi-player modes are meager
As for individual mode details, infection is basically a game of survival where one player is the game's protagonist, Hayden, while the others are Lasrian soldiers hunting him down. When Hayden is taken out, the soldier who dealt the lethal blow takes Hayden's place as the "infected" target for the next round. Epidemic is the standard team vs. team war, but each team has a leader (represented by Hayden) that must be taken out to end rounds.
In both modes, players who play as Hayden have access to all his Evolution Powers, Glaive, and elemental powers. Both modes are also playable on five maps and can support up to ten players. Friendly fire is not allowed in either mode. Now how about the prospect of future DLC? Nothing mentioned, but we'd expect there should be a lot because these modes really need more content in order to compete with other games and their offerings.

I guess we now know what the developers were having a problem with.

As a PS3 owner I don't care if the content in other versions is similar, the fact that makes me remove this game from my shopping list is that we don't get respect by getting an inferior version. I will definitively not support games that make an incomplete version or with less features e.g. Virtua Fighter 5, the PS3 version does not feature online and the 360 does, and even though I could buy it now for lees than 40 bucks I don't care, screw them. The game (Dark S.) is not going to be cheaper or does it?

The Xbox 360 version was released 6 months later. But I guess you can be happy that it sold far less than the PS3 version.

I have both Xbox and PS3 and I will not get this game because this is telling me the dev's were to fucking lazy to pull their stuff together and give US the gamers an equal choice as to which game to pick up! How is it possible that DARK SECTOR being LEAD DEVELOPED ON PS3 lacks in the same aspect of options as the Xbox!?? THIS Ladies and GENTS is flat out POOR DEVELOPMENT by these people... Well.. ONE LESS SALE.. NICE JOB DEV's!!

Wow, looks like the PS3 gets shafted once more by developers. I propose we all boycott the games they pull this crap with (not that i havent been doing already).

Well, I knew this game was going to be flawed, and it is. I wasn't happy when they changed concept (sci-fi to whatever horror thing it's become now), but the fact that the online part of the game is made of only two game modes (Even on 360) tells me that it's not worth buying. Rental, only if the story turns out to be good, but I can play Mutant in UT2004 and have approximately the same online game experience. No go for me as well. :/
I guess Digital Extremes should look up to Epic to see how it's done, since their few years of collaboration together on Unreal Tournament apparently served nothing.

I wholeheartedly agree with you - the fact that the concept was changed and now that more unflattering details are coming out (reminds me of Timeshift). I doubt this game will end up bringing anything new to the table by the time it releases...
...on another note - lookie what I found: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-God-of-War-III/dp/B000ZK9QCS/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1204593591&sr=1-7

I'm glad I haven't been interested in Dark Sector since ... E3 06? I wouldn't expect it to be much better than Pariah, anyway. Burn.

was multiplayer really that high up on everyone's list of "reasons to buy dark sector"? i know it extends the replay-value of a lot of games, but from what i've seen/heard, it's gonna be awesome regardless.

Couldn't agree more, I'm waiting on the reviews for this game because all I'm interested in is its single player. Am I disappointed they digressed from the original concept? Yes. Am I still interested? Of course.

The only reason that piece of crap game is even known is because it was the first glimpse of a next gen game. Sucky game is already sucking. I can smell the 6/10's already.

Another example of why not every game should have multiplayer. I'm tired of games getting docked by reviewers and gamers alike because of a lack of multiplayer, then we get titles like this where it's a complete waste of time for the developer to have ever worked on it. Besides, it's sounding more and more like the main game needs as much attention as it can get.

All I have to say is, I try to ignore how cool the Xbox is compared to the PS3, and it's tough. The Xbox is indeed better, but I still like the PS3 more. I just hope Sony can step it up a notch.
Come on Sony, I'm mindlessly rooting for you!

Nothing to be jealous of IMO, although Live is a superior service, not everyone is an online multiplayer nut. We have a superior controller and great first party games... so i'm not quite sure what exactly you're envious of. None of their exclusives interest me at the moment.
