The first pack is the "movie bundle" set for a March 19 release. It includes three Blu-ray flicks: Spider-man 3, 300, and Casino Royale. The second includes a copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue; this one should hit Euro retailers by March 29. Both bundles are 40GB models (the only ones available in Europe) that come with the regular €399 price tag.
It's pretty sneaky of Sony to introduce a Blu-ray movie pack, especially with HD DVD out of the picture. It certainly is an intelligent tactic. To see the movie bundle pack shot, hit the jump.

Listen up Sony. I have a 60GB PS3. I have friends who *want* to buy a PS3 but do NOT want the measly 40GB version.
Release the 80GB version in Europe and stop messing about.
Thank you.

Dude, just buy the 40 gig, and replace the hard drive with a cheap $50 300 gig hard drive that's available everywhere now. That'll be tons cheaper than paying Sony maybe $200 more for just 20 or 40 additional gigs!

Probably because Sony wants the people who buy the movie pack to eventually pick up the controller to play some games....

Yeah but I gotta wonder why a movie pack didn't come with the BR remote packed in? With the expense and rarity of other BR players on the shelves, they should be stacking these boxes up at home theater stores right?

that is a good point. why not include the BR remote and an HDMI cable and make this thing a full high def theater in a box? i mean you can make the fair assumption that the majority of people that would buy the PS3 for Blu-ray are going to have a high def TV with at least component and more than likely HDMI. i mean if you dont have a high def TV, stick to DVD's cause Blu-ray is damn near pointless.

very good point about the remote, it seems the movie bundle would appeal to those wanting a PS3 for HD Movies, so why not the remote?
Sad day!

Of course not, the DS3 won't even be out in the US when these bundles will be released. Europe always gets stuff later.

Hm ... Casino-Man 300 Royale ...
It's a smart move overall on their part. They need these awesome bundles to push sales.
Does the 360 have any offers like these?

Good bundles SCEE, but please for my brothers across the pond GIVE THEM the 80GB 85%BC PS3. If as you said yourself that the 80GB sold 50/50 with the 40GB why not do the same in the EU?
WITH THE DS3 INCLUDED. Man I really wonder what the frak SCEE is smokin over there, they must spend 8+ a day in those coffee shops.

Come on Sony, if the 80gb is selling so well why aren't we getting it in Europe - SORT IT OUT! I'm just glad I bagged a 60gb before they disappeared...

THESE ARE SWEET BUNDLES!!!
Alrite, 80gb PS3 would be better, but now that blu-ray has won the formatt war, this is a great bundle for movie watchers!
And seeing as most of the PS3 owners are going to be purchasing GT5:P, a bundle of GT5:P is surely going to be a geat incentive for non-PS3 owners to jump onboard.
Wonder if we'll see a GTA IV bundle? Or maybe not because its not a PS3 exclusive?

$400 is entry level enough. People need to get jobs.

THANK you popfrogs. That's more of what we need to hear =P.
Come on, I'm a student living on my own working through internships and I can afford one. Though technically I might put the PS3 on a higher priority list than others... like matching furniture.

One bundle comes with $90 worth of movies, and the other comes with a $40 game, yet they are the same price.
