Who ever said the PlayStation 3 was in trouble? Well, for those of you who subscribe to that line of thought only need to keep reading because you'll see why you're wrong. Sony has announced that it has sold more than one million PS3s in the United Kingdom. What makes this feat even more impressive, especially to the naysayers, is that Sony reached the milestone faster than it did with the PlayStation 2, which took 50 weeks to hit the mark.
Sure, some might sum this up to the video game industry becoming more popular throughout the world, but if Sony can keep up this momentum, it's possible that EA's prediction of the PS3 overtaking the Xbox 360 in worldwide sales could come to pass.

And, more importantly (and noteworthy) nearly three months quicker than the 360.....

Don't forget, 360 took 60 weeks, with a MARKET TO ITSELF.
PS3 did it 3 months quicker, whilst fighting with 360 and Wii for sales..
I think that clearly puts anyone's Xbot claims of PS3 not selling in the firmly in the Microsoft book of fairy tales.

But completely irrelevent to the discussion at hand. This blog entry is comparing PS3 sales to the PS2s and to the 360s, which my chart does and yours does not.
It's a well known fact that the Wii is pwning all competition, you don't need to cry every time someone neglects to mention the obvious.

@Hyams: This is apples to apples with the PS3 thrown in for good measure:

Yeah, that chart is better than JerJerBinks's. But again, the Wii isn't relevant to this PARTICULAR discussion (we're comparing PS3 to PS2 to 360) so it still doesn't quite work.

Congrats to Sony on this one. The PS3 is definitely beginning to gain some ground.
The only country who doesn't seem to be adopting the PS3 at an ever increasing rate is the US. Could be having something to do with M$ propaganda thats been going around quite some time.

Well US has something with Microsoft and PC gaming so Xbox still standing strong and if you compare USA only Xbox vs PS3 stats I don't see Sony possibly taking over Xbox or even catching up in America.
But the thing is in the EU and Asia the other places in the world the PS3 is doing a lot better then Xbox 360. Xbox wont sell at all in japan and PS3 have been outselling xbox for months and months in the UK. Those two territories will probably give Sony the overall boost to match microsoft numbers.

Now if they could prevent retailers from adding a ridiculous "PS3 tax" to multiplatform releases like Devil May Cry 4 in the UK, that would be excellent.

I know what you mean, one shop was selling Burnout for £5 more on the PS3 than 360. So I went to Asda and got it for £39! A full £10 less than Game

And then you go on to GAME's website and that's a tenner cheaper than store.
