Update: Impressions, after the cut. Demo is available on US Store as well.
Wow.
So that's why Lost Planet has such a great online community! The English language demo was a bit daunting at first, thanks to a crowded controller map that had us scratching our heads. However, it wasn't long until we were jumping into mechs, rappelling up buildings, and causing explosive mayhem like the rest of the online community.
Jumping into an online game was incredibly easy. Already, there are so many servers that are filling up quite rapidly. Players from all over the world are partaking in the adventure, and many of them are much, much better than us.
We do wish the demo had some intelligent matchmaking, but that's a small gripe for what is essentially a small sample of the upcoming PS3 game. It might not be as beloved as other upcoming PS3 games, but we had a blast with this title last night. Our interest in the upcoming US release has piqued quite a bit.

Mr. Dartmerc, if you are giving out medals, then I gladly accept. I would like to thank the Academy for always supporting me and helping me out. I would also like to thank Wesley Snipes for showing us all how to avoid paying taxes and getting away with it. To my family, I owe everything. And finally, I would like to thank myself for always being there for me. Had it not been for me, there's no telling where I would have ended up. Thank you, all and good night!
BTW, when did the Japanese site get the demo? Ahh, who cares, I'm gonna play it anyway.

The demo's in full English, if anyone was wondering. Pretty fun, too; I just played for about two hours. Bursting into a voice-enabled server with seven Japanese people and shouting 'OHAYOU!!' every three seconds is way more fun than it should be.

What do you mean by "for some reason"? it had a thriving community because it's a really fun online game.

Sweet, thanks for the heads up, PS3fanboy. I actually live in Japan, so I don't feel guilty about this one.
@ Matt
Thanks for the info on the Japanese DMC4 language. I was just looking at it today. My Japanese friend wants to split it with me but I was going to wait to import it. You wouldn't happen to know if the Japanese version of Uncharted comes with English on it, would you? I saw it used for 4,000 yen. That's a steal in my opinion. Heavenly sword still costs as much.

It doesn't make much sense to bring this demo to Japan first when the US is the core market for this game. Sony needs to get it together. they keep underminding there US and UK audience

I'll peep the Lost planet tonight. I downloaded it this morning before I left for work. Sad thing is I have the game for my 360 and never finished it and never played it online once. I just want to see how the game came out on the PS3 compared to the 360.

Hi,
I just setup my Japanese PSN account to get this demo. I loved the 360 demo and wanted to play this game on my PS3.
The demo was online multiplayer only (no single player mode) and most of the text was in English. Within a few moments, I was matched up with other players and playing. The game was fun but I noticed that the graphics and framerate didn't seem to be as good as the 360 single player version. It was late at night so I could be wrong about this. Maybe the framerate isn't smooth on the 360 either?
In either case, I'm looking forward to the PS3 version of this game. If there's any issues with the PS3 version of this game, I hope they fix them before release.
PS, it's really easy to setup a Japanese PSN account. I followed the instructions at http://www.japanesepsn.com/ . Hope this helps!

Yeah Lost Planet is a sweet game. I still rate it as my favourite xbox shooter (i'm sick of all the military fps that everyone loves so much) and the community isn't like the sweary Gears or Halo fanboys. It'll probably enjoy a bigger audience on Playstation where it won't be competing with the 360's big boys. And IMO this game is the best graphics and audio showcase so far this gen.
