A new DVD release in Japan called CLOUD features new extended trailers of the upcoming Square Enix behemoths: Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII Versus. The trailers have been ripped off the disc and uploaded by an anonymous person going by the moniker "Xlude." It appears that these are either very similar to the trailers shown at the Closed Mega Theater at Tokyo Game Show earlier this year. (This means no one outside of Japan has been able to see this before!) [Update: Having reviewed the footage, it's clear that these trailers still don't include everything at TGS. For example, FFXIII featured an Afrika-like scene. Versus included very revealing story details. Read our TGS impressions here and here.]
Enjoy the FFXIII trailer above, and check out Versus after the cut. We're already in love with the style that permeates every second of both these trailers. These two are easily going to sell truckloads of PS3s. We can feel it.
[Thanks, FF-XIII.net!]

They're not the TGS trailers, the TGS trailers had three extra characters between them which the general public still haven't seen. Nevertheless these trailers are still new and still sooooo amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on these games, or even just more footage!

That's some nice pre rendered material, but that's all it is. I don't want to sound like a negative xbot, but this doesn't show anything that has to do with the game. Well apart from having made some nice cut scenes.

So you're calling the ff13(not versus) trailer pre-rendered. Then what is the list of attacks at 00:48? Attack, fire, blizzard, lightning, v strike, atb bar, hp bar, etc? Also, the list was being used, highlighting through different attacks. Maybe several parts were pre-rendered. But the part I noted is surely not. Go download the higher quality trailer off the read link and see for yourself, not through these vids.

Ok sorry, I take back my comment. There is about 25 seconds of game footage in there. It looks good. I wish they put more emphasis on the game footage though. Is the quicktime mov playable on the ps3 btw?

They showed a small part of in-game with the fight scene,
or did you not notice the hp hits, it was so seamless you could'nt tell the dif from cut scene and in-game.

actually... as stated by squenix themselves... that footage IS in game. not pre-rendered. (the fight scene - its been shown before). why are graphics of that level hard to believe. sure... they looks spectacular, but its quality that we have seen before, and will see trumped many times over on the ps3 in the coming years. the 360... ehhhh.... maybe not so much.

agreed, the part where they show the "in-game footage" is from the first FFXIII trailer that came out before the PS3 was even released (it was aired together with the killzone 2 & motorstorm "in-game footage", that turned out to be pre-rendered). In fact, why are they calling this new? The only parts of these videos that I haven't seen before are the scenes where the guy teleports around (FFvXIII) and pretty much all the scenes where you see stuff flying (FFXIII), not including Shiva's transformation and the fight scenes, that's all over a year old.

Here's a still image of the battle scene: http://finalfantasyversusxiii.net/screenshots/ffxiii2.jpg
There are already games out that look that good. Why does it have to be pre-rendered?

wow........... If in fact they can pull that off as in game footage that would be amazing!! We'll have to wait and see but still that's some pretty nice eye candy!

Tired of pre-rendered garbage being shown for the PS3. It's been proven time and time again that the PS3 can't ddo this in game - check motorstorm, KZ2, MGS4. How exactly is a game like this going to shift lots of systems...especially outside of Japan? The FF games on the PS2 sold about 7.5 million for and install base of 120 million, more than half of those games being sold in Japan? Halo 3 has almost done that for an install base of under 20 million. The fact is adult western gamers, which is the bulk of the market for these machines, couldn't give 2 hoots about funny japanese RPGs.

Jesus christ, read the other comments before spewing out the same crap they are:
The battle scene in the FFXIII video in NOT (I repeat: is NOT) pre-rendered. It's in-game. Look at some stills of it, and it's clear it's not pre-rendered.
And, odds are, by now, the in-game footage is proably dated compared to the current build the devs are working on.

perhaps you should research things buddy...
the battle scene in the ff13 (not versus) trailer IS gameplay.
squeenix said themselves, ff13 and versus are using the ps3's full specs including lowering load times by streaming to the HDD.
nice job on trolling btw.

Check KZ2 and MGS4? Neither have been released yet and both have extensive videos you can check out of in-game action. If you were trying to make a point, you failed.
