We love Sony - you know we do - but sometimes the company's figureheads will come out with the most ridiculous things when a microphone is pressed against their faces. We're not going to reel off a list of previous atrocities, in order to prevent some peoples' blushes (Phil Harrison and Ken Kutaragi, we're looking at you). Instead, we'll look at the latest batch of hilarious sound-bytes-in-text-form, this time from Sony CEO Howard Stringer. He suggests that PS3 games are infinitely more fun than than the Wii's. We're perfectly happy to believe Stringer when he says this, but without clear proof (preferably on lined paper, worked out with a 2B pencil with the answer underlined) we're not going to be satisfied. PS3 and Wii games are very different, yes - but is one system more fun than the other? That's down to personal taste, surely. It's a shame, really, because everything else Stringer said in the article we've linked to below makes a decent amount of sense. Let's stay away from the "I" word from now on and we'll all be much happier.

Yeah, Sony guys really have to stop telling us how good they think the PS3 is, and start putting their money where there mouths are. I think the PS3 is great, don't get me wrong, but its not the center of my multimedia universe, and I definitely wouldn't mind at least a few more AAA titles in my library. I don't think anyone from Sony should say another word until features like Divx and Home are released.
I do agree with his statement, however. Wii is a one trick pony, its entertaining for a little while but gets boring really quickly. Wow, another game where I shake my controller at the screen and a cutesy character ducks or something. I think the PS3 has the potential to include as much innovative motion control as the Wii, BUT its not the only feature that defines the PS3 unlike the Wii. Its just that Sony has to start doing more then talking about what the PS3 COULD do and just do it.

This is an absurd comment.
But for me the games offered on PS3 are much more fun and engaging that the Wii games. Plus I think the PS3 has a better quality to crap ration than the Wii. I find the games on the Wii to be pretty shallow and I lose interest really fast. I've been disappointed with it as a system so far. Of course I'm not the "casual gamer" that the system is apparently dedicated to, so it makes sense. I just wish they hadn't led everyone on about not turning their back on the 'core' gamer, because thats exactly what they've done.

When has Nintendo _not_ turned it's back on hardcore gamers? It started with the Mortal Kombat blood debacle on the SNES and continues to this day. Back then, the Sega Genesis was the 'mature' gamer's console. Then came the PS1 and that changed everything.
Nintendo does what they do best, and that's make children's games for children. If you expect them to grow up with you, you just don't get it.

Well it's good PSP/PS3 Fanboy displays these articles without adding bashing to other consoles, Unlike how WiiFanboy,DSFanboy and Xbox 360 love doing crouch punches to PS3/PSP. Kudos for continuing to be mature about it.

Yeah, the PS3 community is way more mature than the 360 community. Not so much the Nintendo community but I can see how the website can be a little "immature". I think part of the reason is that the other consoles don't have as much news to deliver as the PS3 has. We're getting a good amount of announcements every week where as the other consoles don't really have as much going on right now.

I own both systems and the Wii is definitely more fun, but the PS3 is a hell of a lot more impressive. It's also easier to get your girlfriend to play the Wii. ;)

I love when my girlfriend plays with my wii. When she has it in her hand, waving it around, wiggling it, stroking it.

how unprofessional is that?
i personally like my PS3 better than my Wii RIGHT NOW but these consoles play alot of different games and i know my PS3 will be collecting dust in February when SSBB comes out. and im sure that this switch-a-roo will happen alot over the years and that is why i have both or them. you cant just make a vague statement like that since it is purely his opinion. shame on you mr. stringer.

I really have no idea why people have a problem with Sony's CEO claiming that PS3 is better than Wii. THATS THE SYSTEM THEY ARE PROMOTING!
What's he going to say "Yeah our product is great, but not as great as our main competitors, in fact you should all buy their console as ours is useless in comparison"

I have all three systems, and I gotta say, I rarely do anything with my Wii or PS3. I only use the PS3 for movies, demos, and Super Puzzle Fighter (I don't have any full games); I use the Wii for a few games and VC downloads. It seems to me that neither of them have enough games of interest to really warrant ANY comment in the area of which is more fun, but if I were forced to pick one RIGHT NOW, I guess I'd go with the Wii because I have more games for it (all of which are of reasonably high quality.) Frankly, I'd say the 360 is the most fun.
Except Halo. I HATE Halo.

Yeah, sure. I have found a lack of truly awesome games for the Wii so far. I loved Zelda, Metroid, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario G, and Guitar Hero III... but come one, that's only 5 games!!
And then, what PS3 games beat those games right now? I think there are a couple games. Heavenly Sword, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, and Elder Scrolls IV. But only one of them is exclusive to the PS3!!
Yet again, don't get me wrong. My only gift for this Christmas is a PS3 with MotorStrom and Fifa 08. Mainly cuz I want to be able to play any good games that come out in the future for the PS3, and they will come. Also cuz I hate how EA made the controls for Fifa on the Wii. And finally because it's one of the cheapest BlueRay players our there :-)
Either way, Wii and PS3 will get some mega-kick-ass titles closer to the 2nd anniversary and forward, because not many developers know what to do with these two systems yet (for very different reasons).
