Ray Maguire sat down with Edge magazine and talked about the upcoming surge of PS3 console sales this holiday season. Maguire treats this surge like fact -- we all expect it to happen. He's so confident the PS3 will sell this holiday that he believes in the UK, sales of the PS3 will double. That means 1 million PS3's will have been moved off the shelf since launch. In addition to the sales of the console itself, Maguire believes that games will no longer be an issue this holiday season: "we're in the period of crossover now, where people will start to develop on PS3 as the lead [platform] if they're multiformat ... because of the Cell chip and because it's got a hard disc in every device, the way of generating games - if you start with PS3 - is you can create the optimal, ultimate game. And then you can knock out functionality to put it onto other platforms." Ouch! Well, since we have yet to see those claims bleed over into actual games yet, maybe something like Devil May Cry 4 will cause that statement to become fact. Who knows.

I look forward to games where the PS3 is the lead console.
Even if its not games now look the same on both consoles. No more crappy frame-rate or muddy textures. (I might actually buy an EA multiplat)
Can I still hope for Asssasins Creed exclusivity?

I hope they do well, since once Europe and Japan are completely stable, Sony can really concentrate on the U.S.

This would be great news. The console with (lots of variety) established as the main one and all kind of interesting tricks can be done on Cell by those with the training. Can you say, 'there's more to games than FPSs?!'

I watched your video and would like to offer a little constructive criticism.
1.)Please make a list of what your going to talk about. You seem to be going from one random thought to the next.
2.) You are a hardcore gamer. No casual gamer knows about flow, afrika, or the fish viewing game (I didnt catch what that one was called) you were talking about. And honestly I would consider MMO, RTS, and RPG players more hardcore than shooter fans. Those games require hours of dedication to advance while most shooters are over in about 10hrs. Therefore the avg shooter fan may game for a few hours a week to complete his favorite game, but the avg MMO, RTS, and RPG fan would need to put in a few hours a day to make a similar progression in their game. But thats just my opinion.
3.)Dont mention the competition, espically when it has the features your touting and does them better. Outside of having a hi def player out of the box, the 360 is the better media center. It supports more video formats, has its own VOD movie rental service, and its recognized as a media extender by every media shareing device on the market.
Overall I liked the video. Its always cool to hear why people have the opinions that they do(thats why I come to this site). I'll be waiting for the next vid.

Depending on how they do the figures I may count as 3 sales for the PS3 as I was in the statistical minority that got 2 duff consoles. Anyway I have a PS3 that works and I love it.
