The song, entitled "Haze", will act as a "testament to the synergy possibilities between music and video games, which often share the same audience," says Ubisoft's Christian Salomon. Also speaking out is Korn's singer Jonathan Davis, who rehearsedly exclaimed "Gaming for me is a religion and Haze is the shit! I had to come up with a track that can hit up that kind of rush I get from the game and I think we really rocked it!!" The double exclamation marks are, of course, to emphasize how much the band "rocked it". Well, take it however you like, but it seems the marketing train for Haze is underway. But will it pay off?

This isn't the first time Korn has been involved in a video game project/movie. Street Fighter II the animated movie featured there song "Blind" at the end credits. :)

They also had stuff in MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf.
As long as the song isn't in the game, I'm happy. Free Radical has always had a great Music team. TimeSplitters 2 and Second Sight have some great tunes. Can't imagine how the teams creative style could benefit from the inclusion of Ko*backwards*Rn music, but then again... it's not like Haze is oozing Free Radicals trademark creative style anyways.

Yeah, I'm a "Not Crap Music" Fanboy and I will make fun of Haze if it includes Korn (misspelled food item) on the game soundtrack. I don't need to be playing a game and keep hearing the equivalent to hearing people fart on microphones to a game that people actually gave thought into. Unlike Korn's (non-tasty misspelled food item)....hmmm....for lack of a lesser term, music.

I believe the song is just going to promote the game, not actually going to be in it- at least that's how I read it.

I like some of Korn's stuff, so hopefully this will be good. If it's not, then I'll never appreciate their music ever again....unless it reaches a Sgt. Peppers-level of awesomeness, but i seriously doubt that.
why? well...it's Korn.

You don't have to be any kind of fanboy to make fun of Korn, they actually suck. When were they last relevant 1998?

What were they relevant to in 1998?
I hate any kind of cross media project. Movies are always horrible as are cartoon spin-offs. FMV made for horrible games and licensed bands narrow the audience to a game and have killed one of the most charming aspects of the experience.
I agree sometimes there is a good fit... even though I do not like 'techno' it suited Wipeout. I am so tired of Rap and 'punk' being a staple of sports and racing games it makes me want to drive a fork into my liver. Even bands I like simply do not suit gaming...No!
When did Korn play this game to get inspired by it?
...my interest has actually be switched off a little by their connection.

And I'm sure if some anonymous band made the song you'd all love it...

Considering how well all of Korn's albums sell, I'd say this is a good thing.
It probably won't extend past a new single being released by Korn, 'inspired' by Haze. And when this song plays on the music channels, it'll essentially work as a three minute long trailer for the game.
Also I love Korn, so yay for new single. ^_^

Korn "Whats Haze?"
Sony "A really cool FPS for the PS3, and if you make a song for it we will send you a free PS3 and a preview copy of the game!"
Korn "and ?"
Sony "and some cool t-shirts!"
Korn "and ?"
Sony "and a check for $50,000."
Korn "oh that HAZE! that game looks like it Kicks A$$!! Sure we'll do it!
*Click*
Later.....
*ring* *ring*
Korn Producer: "hello?"
Korn: "Hey it's me I just got a call from Sony and they want us to do a song for them."
Producer "So?"
Korn "Remember that song "flaming monkeys!" that got dropped from our last album because it sucked?"
Producer "Yeah"
Korn "How hard would it be to dub in "HAZE rocks!!" over "flaming monkeys!"?"
Producer "Dunno, a few hours of work.."
Korn "Great! Easy money! Lets do it!"

They might as well slap some STD's onto the disc before placing into the case if they end up including this awful group of people into the soundtrack somehow.
Sure, there are other bands I could suggest, but as others have said, cross-media projects usually end up shitty no matter how good the mix seems. I could name a favorite band and a favorite IP, but that doesn't mean it will fit. If I want to hear Meshuggah while playing Killzone then I can just put on headphones or wait for the firmware update with a music feature. I'm not going to want the devs to alter their creative direction because of some music, or vice versa.

Yes you are right... I would love it if an unknown band had done the song... whatever it sounds like I am just consumed with raging hatred towards Korn... I think they do great music I just have deep rooted insecurities about them being successful.
What was the point of that comment Kspraydad?
If you love this band that is all well and good. I simply don't. It would be incorrect to say I am cynical about this song...as the facts are already layed down. It is a way of marketing a game that I don't appreciate. I am content with my opinion.
