PS3 moves and shakes amazon.com sales charts

The PS3 80GB Motorstorm Pack was ranked 105 on the amazon sales charts. Now, it's at number 18. This means sales or the 80GB model have jumped 483%. A pretty impressive jump -- and we expect sales to grow. Sony's $100 price drop is making the system that much more attractive to consumers. How will they respond to the $399 40GB system when it releases in a few weeks?

Note: amazon.com sales charts are updated hourly.

2. Doesn't it mean its rank has moved up 483%?
That doesn't mean its SALES have jumped that much...

ie. 18X4.83=87...105-87=18th ranking.

You could, for instance, find the same 'jump' if all the other products infront of it had lowered sales...your rank would move up without moving any extra product.

6. You guys completely misunderstand what it takes to move from 105 to 1st...it could mean 10 extra sales...

Anyway...hope to see PS3 start selling 300k per month or the will NEVER get to where we need them to be for developers to support the hardware....

Funny that N64 controllers are 71 and SIXAXIS is in 73rd. Kinda strange, though.

14. Does anybody know if the 80gb and 40gb have a faster Blu-ray drive, I just got my 60GB PS3 and compared to my PS2 the drive is slow, I know it is a 1st gen drive, but being used to the almost instant loading of the 360 it really gets annoying, especially when you die in Heavenly Sword.

15. @14: Devs are supposed to be using the hard drive to help with load times. I don't think the BR drive is very fast. To this day I'd rather install games on my PC from a CD than from a DVD because of this.

See Oblivion or RR7 on how they did hard drive loading right to keep disc access times down. R6:Vegas also does some caching.

16. About time it's at a competitive price to the XBox. Seriously, I'm sick of hearing all the Xbox fools out there rag on the PS3. The PS3 is better than the XBox 360 in almost every way. For $399 you get a hard drive, wi-fi(I ain't running cat 5 cable to my living room just to play online) free online play, and Blu-ray(yes that will be a big deal for games as the game sizes get bigger)? Seriously what is everybody's big deal? There are plenty of good games out for PS3 and major ones in the next couple months. Wow, it doesn't have Halo, big f'n deal. I'm certainly not going to curl up in a ball and cry myself to sleep because I can't play halo.
