Söldner-X trailer full of shmup goodness

Up to this point, all we've seen of Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer were screenshots, but thankfully, developer Side Quest Studios has released a great gameplay trailer of the upcoming PlayStation Network downloadable game. While it doesn't seem like Söldner-X will stray too far away from the tried and true shmup recipe for success, everything we've seen from the game just looks so darn good.

1. Hm so Söldner-X is the same as the PS1 game Einhänder then? I _loved_ that one, best shoot'em up ever. This does indeed look very similar, I'll get it.

2. Hmm, I'm not that impressed, I've played Gigawing on the the neogeo emulator and that whoops this one's ass. Ok Gigawain is a vertical scroller, but the gametype is the same.

Explosions look amazing in Gigawing, but look pants in this.

3. Nobody said anything about the music? Hot damn, if that music goes with the actual game, put me down for a dozen downloads. These games always make my mouth water, and the music is totally reminiscent of the Genesis game Sub-Terrania, which was also totally bitchin', if a gravity simulator.

4. you can tell theyve had a slow news weekend :P

6. oh my. just soiled myself. its about time for some awesome classic sidescrolling action.

7. Its about time Sony embraced classic genres not every game has to be a revolution. On a format lacking big software releases simple fun can be the perfect tonic. The PSN is sorely neglected.

8. PS: are not all weekends slow for news? It is a horrible time of the week to be a gamer :/

All the big sites take a two day break.

9. are you guys crazy? this is a great title to have on the PSN...a nice arcade styled shooter..i love playing games like this. they're so much fun to just pick up and play..

10. I think this looks great, and it's exactly the sort of thing I want on the PSN. Also looking forward to Everyday Shooter. Hopefully these two will be released soon.

11. Weekend is time to game. Week days are for browsing gamesites under the boss' time.

12. Awesome. R-Type based games rock. This looks brilliant.

13. Gotta love the PSN, we get original new (experimental) titles once in awhile. This looks like a winner to me. I miss Einhander.

14. I'm not sure how Söldner-X makes makes it a slow news weekend... this is a game i'm very much looking forward to.

15. @18 hell no, maplestory is one of the worse korean mmos i've ever played. But then again, many koraen mmos suck because the amount of grinding needed to level up, which detracts from fun. And no, no free online mmos cuz the developers are not gona get paid that way.

17. Man, that looks fantastic. Can't even imagine how cool that would be at 1080p... classic gaming with fantastic new graphics. I love it.
