He feels it will not only be a driving force for PS3 sales, but "after seeing LittleBigPlanet at TGS, I believe it could be a console mover ... The game is really innovative, and I think it adds a family element that is so far missing from both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. If they can accompany that game's launch with a price cut (or a lower priced SKU), I think we'll see a spike in sales."
He's in luck, as we're fairly sure we'll get a lower priced SKU at some point before the PS3's fiscal year ends (rumored to be sooner than you think). We've just got to remember, the console hasn't even been out for a year, hardly six months for some users across the world.

IF Sony ACTUALLY advertises for LBP, then yes it could be a system seller. I am really starting to wonder where all the PS3 commercials are?? I see plenty other systems commercials advertised but hardly anything to do with the PS3... Hire me Sony, I'll promote for you.

This is just about the only game for PS3 that I'm actually excited for and if it turns out to be as amazing as it looks may force me to actually get a PS3 for myself.

@5: Although I bought my PS3 at launch, I am really looking forward to this title as well. It just oozes innovation and the sharing aspect of the 'levels' you create should keep it fresh forever.
Freshness is what multiplayer is all about. Like Warhawk, where very rarely do you play the same game twice, unless you're dead set on defending your flag with a tank or something along those lines.

Although I have no doubt that this will be a great game, my concern is that we will not have any amazing games to play over the holidays. While the 360 has Bioshock and Halo which have recieved stellar reviews, the only promising PS3 exclusives seem to be Uncharted and Haze. From what I have seen, Uncharted will be a good game...perhaps a bit better then Heavenly..but not stellar. Sony also failed to release a touchsense controller (standard rumble) and delayed Home until next year. I also think home is promising but I am sure it will get boring very quickly. How much time does Sony expect us to walk around talking to other avatars?

WHY OH WHY OH WHY Must Websense block me from X360 Fanboy. I have been dying to get in there and laugh about how HORRIBLE the graphics in Halo 3 are. Still a fun game but talk about over hyped and over rated. Last night I went on IGN to check the reviews and I wanted to throw up. THE GAME DOES NOT DESERVE THOSE SCORES!!! Meanwhile PS3 games get 5h!++3D on.

I still think PS3 has life in it... It has had a rough start but things are improving..just not as fast as everyone would hope. I think behind the scenes they will be much more bullish about third parties.
To point out this as a system mover this late and also to be an industry analyst shows someone is not doing their job too well. The positive vibes generated after this and home were announced were fantastic.

I keep hearing about how awesome and stunning LBP is and that's all well and good but I've not heard what the heck this game is about. It won't sell consoles if no one knows anything about it.

I think LittleBigPlanet will be a fantastic game, but I still can't shake off the feeling that this is going to end up like Viva Pinata. Well I'm hoping it doesn't because the PS3 needs that killer app as soon as possible if it wants to compete with the 360's sales (although it is catching up).

First, LOL at Nick's subject line. Its soooo random!
And TheSh0wstopper, eh IGN actually didn't find the graphics that impressive either. Its MAINLY the uber intensive replay value and the insane soundtrack says Hilary.
In any case, 1up says MGS4 has an insane soundtrack as well with context and directional sensitive dualshock3-ness? Mmmmm.
Anyway, to add some value to this post. YAY LBP! Quite excited.

What a "system-seller" is really depends on each individual. FPS's are never system-sellers to me because the gamepad interface sucks balls compared to K&M. I haven't seen any exclusives come out for the 360 that interest me that much. Bioshock is not exclusive and is much better on PC!
There are a couple of FPS's coming out for PS3 that have K&M support (sweet!) so I'll probably try those out.
Anyways, games like God of War and Heavenly Sword are what define the point of consoles for me. God of War would be a system-seller alone for me, had I not already bought a PS3. And I bought one for the collective of awesome games out or coming out soon, the media capabilities, and the cross-platform games (which tend to be better on PS3--at least the ones I've compared to 360).

What is your game tag on xbox live. I want to log on with you today and rag on Halo3 with you. Give me your gamer tag so I can see how far along you've made it on Halo 3.

TheSh0wstopper,you remember last generation when the PS2 wasnt as good as the Xbox graphics and all the Sony fanboys cried that it was about gameplay and not graphics?
Pick a side and stay with it,flip-flopper.

Now,on topic.
What is this game about anyway? I have seen gameplay demos and it's just the player fucking around with blocks and pieces. Is there an actual story and characters to this game?

This ONE game won't convince a family-oriented non-gamers to drop $500 or even $400 on a Playstation 3 over a Wii, just like most 360 owners didn't care about Viva Pinata. So Sony's going to be stuck trying to sell this to the same people who say Zelda is kiddie.

They need to market before the game comes out, which should be around Spring 2008.

I see lots of ads at the Saddledome (hockey arena where the calgary flames play out of)
This game is a system seller, unfortunately the system doesn't match the audience for this game. I can't believe they gave Halo a 9.5, however I am very intrigued by Forge but besides that.
If there were ads for this game would they be pay by MediaMolecule or Sony or split?
