Videos showcase new FPS mode in Time Crisis 4

Maybe a fanboy shouldn't write about Time Crisis 4. For example, the graphics are far from revolutionary, looking more like a PS2 game than a PS3 title. Yet, the unique control mechanism of Time Crisis 4's new FPS mode certainly warrants a closer look. Instead of having a virtual mouse on the screen, players are free to simply aim at the screen. Really. Aim as you would a real gun, and fire away. These two new videos aren't filled to the brim with depth, but they show, at the very least, the potential that Time Crisis 4 has in bringing something new to the genre.

1. Umm, am I missing something? Where is the gun modeling?

2. did he really take that many gunshots directly to the face before a one shot slice to his opponents by knife?

Posted at 6:03PM on Sep 16th 2007 by Justin

3. oh and @ twak...

apparently, you shoot with the guncon...so the 'gun' is in your hands. and a reticle should show onscreen to where you're shooting.

iono if they can pull this all the way off...

hopefully they do!

4. You SHOULD be able to use the Guncon 2. I have one, but haven't trid it. Anyone know if it works?

Posted at 6:23PM on Sep 16th 2007 by Titty Pink

5. Ahhhh... OK So your sure thats for PS3 right...

6. This should be interesting. Can't wait till it releases. I own all games in the series.

7. This game looks like ass

8. @ 7

Yea, ive seen better looking dreamcast games

Posted at 8:04PM on Sep 16th 2007 by Darko

9. Wow.
Games where you move in only one direction with PS2 level graphics are so next gen, I'm in on day one.

Or maybe I'll wait for Haze.

10. Whatever happened to "graphics don't make a game, gameplay does."

Isn't that the ideology that the whole Wii is built behind?!

It's an ARCADE game dumbasses, you should be happy we're lucky enough to have it on the PS3. Graphic whores.

11. I'm really looking forward to this. I only hope more games come out for the guncon. Less reason to buy a Wii!

Posted at 9:40PM on Sep 16th 2007 by Tonbo

12. I just bought BLACK for my PS2...um, it looks better than this.

Posted at 11:09PM on Sep 16th 2007 by Kspraydad

13. it's not terribly difficult to spruce graphics from an Arcade. in fact why didn't they leave this as a $20 PSN download?

Posted at 11:18PM on Sep 16th 2007 by ryano

14. All they need now is John Madden's voice for this! Yeah it is a shotgun is it not?! Like I want some guy telling what weapon I'm switching to every single time I switch weapons. That would make me want to take a gun to my TV and shoot it.

Posted at 12:10AM on Sep 17th 2007 by crosseyedjedi

15. To people complaining about the graphics:
Since the game is focusing on the controls, thats their main priority, graphics will come later in the games development

Posted at 12:44AM on Sep 17th 2007 by sam-evans

16. shotgun!

you can't take it anymore...

you've tazered yourself!

Posted at 7:18AM on Sep 17th 2007 by Andir3.0

17. @2

It's a dev build, he's invincible, hence his health doesn't go down.

18. Hahaha..this game looks so bad. The Madden announcer telling you weapon names, the awful 10 polygon cars and hallways, the genius enemies that stand still as you run down the hall and pwn them.

Did someone intentionally make it this lame? Or are arcade games a dying genre for a reason?

Posted at 11:56AM on Sep 17th 2007 by Popfrogs

19. Please, until you have a gunrange in your backyard complete with living bodies and stuff exploding, shut up.

Time Crisis is a very fun game and it always has been. I don't remember any arcade game that ever really rivaled console games, so why should this one? You're expecting too much. The shear fact that you're actually holding a gun cancels everything out.

Sure the Wii controller makes this obsolete, but the Wiimote is not shaped like a gun. Just imagine Metroid with the Guncon.

@13 The game obviously can't be downloaded over PSN because you can't download a controller over the intenet. Duh.
