Sony set a dangerous precedent with last week's PSN update (and also, a tragic mistake). We'll be expecting similar amounts of content for the US PSN and a much greater amount for the EU PSN (alright, alright -- enough moaning about the EU PSN, but honestly: we're bitter). So far this week is shaping up quite nicely now that we have confirmation of Motorstorm's Coyote Revenge update and, now, a Stranglehold demo. That's right. A demo for a game that doesn't involve balls or wheels. We're excited!
The announcement was made on the official Midway forums by the moderator "Echo77." Where do we recognise that name from? Oh yeah, he's the same fellow that started the Stranglehold region free nonsense a couple of months ago. Regardless, we're going to remain cautiously optimistic and hope for the best come Thursday.
Stranglehold demo on PSN this week? Forum mod says "Yes"

Sweet. Very anxious to see how this runs compared to the 360 version. I am a big fan of the PS controller, and I am uncomfortable a lot on 360 controlls, but loved the 360 Strangehold demo. Hoping I'll love the PS3 version even more.

The 360 demo was alot of fun, and I'm curious to see if the PS3 version is different. I pre-ordered the PS3 version of Stranglehold so I could get Hard Boiled on Blu-Ray, but the repeated delays are getting annoying. If I didn't love Hard Boiled so much, I would have canceled my pre-order and gone with the 360 version. I loved the demo and am really looking forward to playing the rest of the game.

How about a skate demo?! I thought I read somewhere that EA had already sent the demo to Sony, and now it's up to them to post it.
Also, wouldn't it be great for the PS3 to get a demo before the XBOX does? They've had Stranglehold for a month, skate for weeks, etc. etc.... We get Nascar 08... *sigh*...

Jem for the love god punch Smooth ;-) I dont believe this will be the case, frankly the Midway forum mods don't appear to be fully with it. I still remember one of them unsure whether the PC version of Stranglehold would be region protected....

Yeh played it on my 360.
Nothing to get excited about really.
You literally just hit the dive+slow motion button over and over again as you kill people.
The environments are nice and some of the interactives are cool but mostly this is a very average game.
I'd say Max Payne 2.o but that would be an insult to max payne.

If this is a next-gen game, why do the models look like they are all constipated? Based on the 360 demo, the game was decent at best. After playing it, I canceled my pre-order, thankful I wasn't spending 60 bucks on a mediocre game.

Cool. I'll be sure to download the demo when it's available.
Quick thing, kind of topic, but it does have a little to do with downloading. You guys think that in the upcoming years, media/game content for the PS3 will require a HDD of larger than 160gb? Reason I ask is because I'm trying to decide on upgrading my HDD to a 160gb or the new 250gb. 160gb is less expensive and for about $80-90 more I can get 90 more gb in the 250gb models.
You guys think a 160gb HDD will be enough to handle future content such as upcoming stuff like Home, or if the PlayTV dvr option becomes available in the north america.

Wow, banner ads, I haven't seen an advert for well over a year now. I bet I'd freak out if I turned off adblock.

I'm very curious about this game as, like Warhawk and Lair, it was announced ages ago and will be up against some stiff competition.
Tru-blue, you have a lot of ways to meet your storage needs. Let's say you just go with 160. Say you're running out of space. You can dump a lot of stuff to a memory card, something you can pick up quick for a lot less money. You can also get external drives for really cheap, and they'll only get cheaper.
Unless you're downloading Hi-Def movies, you can play around with these.
If you're downloading hi-def movies, get all the storage you can.
But no one is doing that right now, and you won't see that until possibly 2008, if then. Sony is considering starting a feature like this in America, they're up against MS and Apple, but they do have quite a large library of their own to start with, before they have to worry about licensing, and all that crap. So while you will eventually see this, it won't be this year, for sure.

awesome. now if only they can release skate. And a firmware that will allow us to listen to our music in the PS3 while playing the game, just like how the box do it.
