The Havok engine is being used for real-time physics within most environments. Bumping into chairs, desks, weak floor boards, with produce noises that alert enemies to your presence. We're sure domino effects are likely too: knocking a chair into a table could knock a lamp down and break it (where there is, of course, a hidden key). Much like the film, Silent Hill 5 is going to employ real-time world deterioration. The transition between the normal world and the world of ... well, the messed-up world, will be visible in real-time and you can move the camera to check it out in great detail. That's some exciting stuff.
A final note is on the revival of boss battles. Bosses have been fairly tame in the Silent Hill games outside of the first and third, which featured large, monstrous bosses. The Collective, the game's developers, want to bring epic boss battles back into the game, relating the experiences to Zelda-like encounters. We're interested to see how that works. We'll keep you up to date as more info gets released.

F'n sweet. I wonder if combat will be any different now that we have a war vet who was trained how to fight as the main character...

What'd I tell you guys?!
The Collective was the american developer all along and no one wanted to believe me.
I suppose no one else wants to believe that the game is currently only running on the Xbox 360.
Not to worry, a PS3 version will come down the pipe eventually...after Collective learns how to program for it. I'm serious no one on the team knows how to use the thing. D=
I'm not terribly worried about the game because my developer friend says it's looking nice. But the recent teaser for it combined with The Collective's recent failure (Dirty Harry) doesn't give me much hope.
@RPG
The combat is exactly the same so this can either be a good thing or a bad thing for you.
@el Tonto
I agree 100%. FEAR is action packed but is pretty weak on the scare factor. I'm like WTF? that stupid little girl lol!
Oh and one of the enemy types is a big hanging testicle on spider legs and one of the Bosses is a giant Worm-Peni that shoots through anuses. go fig.

Just when you think they can't make Silent Hill any crazier, they evolve the series like this... This game is surely going to make me shit myself.

I agree with TheSh0wstopper, I think that's something seriously missing from this teat, I mean, online mag...
I keep expecting, when I play a new game, to be able to get on here and talk about it, but it hasn't happened.
Why not have whatever ps3fanboy authors have played a game write their initial impressions, then let us write ours, as comments? Seems fun.
