Perhaps we exaggerate a little when we say "all things", but Guerilla Games did give a lot of answers to many of the questions we like thinking about regarding
Killzone 2. We'll list out what was discovered below.
- The politically correct term for the release date right now is "2008".
- While the demo is pretty awesome, it's just one level. Incomplete, at that, with no streaming technology implemented yet.
- There will be an online beta at some point (no time soon, we're sure) but there will also be links to the official Killzone website and integration into Home to keep us busy until that time comes.
- After the infamous 2005 trailer, GG was pretty unsure of if they could actually pull off those graphics, but the recent amount of press for the true game has bolstered their belief that they have, in fact, come quite close to that original trailer and are very proud of that. We are too!
- No word yet on user-generated content.
- They refuse to compare their game to Halo 3 because the two games are just that -- two games. They're different in play style and artistic direction. They feel it's more important to improve on what was lackluster in the first Killzone than try to "beat" some other game.
In addition to all this, Guerilla Games is trying to keep
Killzone 2 heads and shoulders above the original in the field of gameplay -- busting out alternate routes, different weapons for different types of gameplay, and an all-around greater scope will prove to keep the game worth playing after that first completion. We don't know when we'll hear from these guys again, so let's just let them get crackin' on the game for a while, okay?

that's real cool of GG to think along those terms. i always agreed with this viewpoint of the two games or any game for that matter.
i hope they do take a page and add the replay feature from halo 3 tho. that'd be real pimp.

Guerilla is one of the most community-friendly developers I've seen in a while. Plus, if they know the Killzone community well, they're going to bring back secondary fire for all of the weapons! ;)

I thought this game was much further along than this ... should we be worried that they are 'only' this far on a game that has been in development for this long?

Now if only gamers can take note of this, we would be on to something good.

My #1 question above all:
Will there be Keyboard + Mouse support in Killzone 2?
Unreal Tournament 3 is going to have it so that shows it can be done on the PS3.
If GG wants my $$ I seriously hope they plan to implement this. PS3Fanboy get those investigative powers out of the closet! =)

A preemptive "Will not buy without 1080i" seems appropriate.

@9
Are you too crappy to play shooters with analog sticks?
Did you lose your sixaxis controller and only have a mouse?
Then why do you want keyboard and mouse support so bad.
Of course keyboard and mouse support can be done in games its just much fairer and funner if everyone is using a sixaxis.

i'd have to agree with #9 tho.
Keyboard and mouse is superior to SIXAXIS control.
but for shooters i'll take a 360 pad anyday. just feels more natural and has better resistance for the thumbsticks.

As someone who was/is a longtime PC gamer, I would prefer a keyboard and mouse in almost any game - BUT I don't mind the Sixaxis, for some games it IS better. This game just happens NOT to be one of them! Hopefully, GG allows the option, but I'm not going to go crying and throwing a fit about it if it doesn't. I'll just suck a little bit harder at the game is all. =P

DownwardMonkey don't let that idiot get to you it's obvious his IQ is on the same level as his daddies sperm count so leave the child alone! HA HA On the other hand YES!! I love the fact that the dev's are concentrating on making the game THEIRS and not thinking of trying to match any other! I think this game has a lot of potential and I also think that Keyboard and Mouse will be supported, I mean it's needed for all FPS! We'll see what happens in future news!
