Can something look
too good? That's what we're asking when we look at these
brand new screenshots of
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Of course the cars look good. But we're taken aback by the detail found in the drivers and the environments. The attention to detail is more than impeccable -- it's scary.
So how does it look when it's in motion? Click past the break to see. Or, watch in
glorious HD.

As I've said over and over again, the PS3 is the finest quality pen and paper anywhere. If the stories and novels are bad, blame it on the quality and talent of the book authors, not the pen or the paper. Sony's provided them the largest and highest quality matterial to work on. The rest is up to them.

I find it pretty amazing that the GT4 engine (the engine used in GT5: Prologue) can produce such high quality graphics. Polyphony Digital really goes all out when they create their software. We can only imagine what the GT5 engine will be like.

That is a damn good analogy Secret.
I can't wait for all these games to start coming out so I can finally give my PS3 something more then PS2/BluRay content.
Even with the lack of content my PS3 still gets more use then my 360...which is kinda of sad. Bioshock would have been great after Gears/Lost but to bad it ccame out on PC too.

Pristine. I'm not a big GT fan as a player, I don't have the patience for it, but damned if this isn't the most beautiful simulation of any kind on any console...

OMG
Polyphony digital continues to amaze me.
I remember when I first played Gran Turismo on the Playstation. I couldn't believe the realism of the replay showing the CRX I wanted so badly in real life, it's suspension dipping in turns, the way the game felt, when you played.
When GT4 came out, I already was in love with the franchise, having played 1,2,3. But 4 topped the others for sheer beauty of programming, game pacing, cars, history, replays, music, tracks, the very feel of the game was SO PERFECT.
Then HD and while I should have expected it, I just found myself amazed that they had increased the feeling, the feedback... and yet there wasn't even rumble, I realized after playing a while and thinking about how great the "feel" was (I still want rumble, though, if only for this series).
Now who cannot say that this 'game' is art?
I dare Mr. Ebert to NOT call this art.
This is Smithsonian, people. GT has always been sort of a history book, a museum. A museum where you get to look at gorgeous and historical cars, drive them in the most realistically simulated way possible with whatever the current technology is, you get to watch yourself drive as you see the replays, you get to enjoy the immense amount of art, detail, and sheer (I'm gonna say it) LOVE that has gone into this franchise, since it's exception.
I would go so far as to say that the programming ITSELF for this game IS ART. I bet you, looking back 3 years from now, considering the ps3 is nearing the end of it's first generation of games, we could look at this code, and go... who the hell thought of THOSE routines, back then? How did they code so beautifully so early in the machine's life?
I know that if I showed this to my mother (an artist), who is in her 70's, who knows nothing about cars...
She would tsk, shake her head, and say, "Wow, THAT IS AWESOME."
Because it's beautiful.

Gunegune: gran turismo HD was built off of the gt4 engine...GT Prologue is built off of the GT5 engine. so what you're seeing right now is getting pretty close to what you'll see when the game comes out next year

@Kspraydad,
I went to that site, I couldn't believe it. I actually registered to write a comment telling them what plagiarizing a**holes they were (I was quite nice considering the serious of the crime).
I have zero tolerance for people stealing creative property from others. They stole the headline, and everything, so I ripped 'em a new one-- rather gently, I think...

The game is awesome and the in car view is amazing.
Understand that I'm as big of a Gran Turismo Series fan as you guys are, and I'm hoping for the best with the upcoming release. I just really hope that they put as much effort into the engine note/sound as they did on the graphics of the game. I also hope they've fixed the AI and managed to make it so the AI just doesn't drive the perfect line all the time, especially when you're on the perfect line and they just bump you out of the way.
I'm very happy where the game is graphically, I just hope they've also fixed issues with the past release like:
- More pronounced engine note/sounds
- Smarter AI, one that adapts to the traffic situation and just doesn't bump into u to get to the line they want.
I'll be content with the generic braking sound they've had for the past two series, but those two I mentioned definitely need to be fixed.
