New footage of Gran Turismo 5's cockpit view

Slowly but surely, interesting morsels of information are streaming out of Leipzig. Here, Jeux-France managed to capture some new video of Gran Turismo 5. Over four minutes of glorious real-time gameplay to feast on. We could say things like "that looks great!" But, we think you're more than capable of making that judgment yourself.

2. Gorgeous.

That hand-over-hand action is sick.
The back view is even more sick! Dirrrrrrttyyyy.

3. This is on3 of the original tracks. Man oh man what a difference. Finally, an in-car view that you can actually play the game in. I love when you switch to rear-view that you can see the interior of the car.

Why is it that these driving game videos seem to have a terrible driver. Does'nt he know this track by now? And in GT you need to break before a turn?

4. @Zaphod Beeblebrox

That driver does suck, but I was more focused on how nice it looks.

Just a quick question for PS3 games.

Are all the games in 16:9 format?

If I have a 4:3 tv do they squish the image of chop off the sides?

5. @4. who are you kidding? It's forza that's supposed to compete with GT. PGR is an arcade racer. They're different genres. And what you're doing is like comparing God of War and Pokémon.

6. @3 one of the original tracks? Its Suzuka!

7. cherdman:
why did you have to go there? Its cool to see the devs taking what was good from pgr3 and putting it into other games(dirt and GT5) and the back view definatly takes the in car view to the next level. All in all I have to say that im impressed. The backgrounds dont look prerendered anymore and the frame rate seems solid.

Compared to Forza 2, GT is an arcade racer.

9. @Andy. I don't know. I think that you would have the option for 4/3 just like you do in the GTHD demo.

10. Why do we have to have 5 seconds of their stupid french site name?? Come on, not everyone has blazing fast internet...Just get on with the damn clip!

Posted at 4:59PM on Aug 22nd 2007 by derrickgott007

11. @8 I've played Forza, and it's not even as good as Sega GT.

Posted at 5:29PM on Aug 22nd 2007 by Livi70590

12. Just as I thought, the mirrors are there for decoration only. You can't actually see what's behind you in them.
And obviously this was a playable demo, not a official drive. That's why the driver sucked, it's his first time playing the game.

13. Is there another link to this video? It's streaming really slow. Probably DIGG's fault.

14. bangbang must be a troll...

"Compared to Forza 2, GT is an arcade racer."

Forza 2 is poor in comparison to any of the GT series and is far more arcade like than GT

15. damge??? =( idk why but im startin to like damage now like in motorstorm and DiRT, but no worries GT is perfect

16. @ Are you high? Forza 2 is a great sim and all but, gt5 is a vastly superior game that just nuked it.

17. What about the gear shifting?

18. Andy, here's my experience with ps3 16:9 output vs. 3:4.

It actually depends on your cables. If you use COMPONENT (red, green, blue), the output will be 16:9. So on a 3:4 tv, this makes everything look elongated vertically-- nothing is chopped off, but it's squeezed in, to fit (ugly-- especially for racing games). If you have a COMPOSITE cable hookup (the single video out the ps3 comes with), then it will output 3:4 to a 3:4 tv. The drawback is it's composite, but then most 3:4 tv's are standard def, anyway.
