- Support for Remote Play for PSP - Turn on Remote Play and feel free to activate folding when you're on the go. Requires PSP firmware 3.50 or above.
- Visibility of Donor Locations on the Globe - See night and day users.
- Support for Additional Protein Simulations - PS3 now supports even more kinds of proteins!
- Advanced Participation Mode - Recommended for users that fold at least eight hours a day, this mode will allow users to tackle advanced calculations that take significantly longer than standard operations. A new energy graph will show the energy level of the protein over time.
- Screensaver Mode - After three minutes of controller inactivity, the screen will go blank, allowing users to save on power consumption.
- Link to Project Information - See what you're folding, and what cause it's going for.
- Protein Visualization Enhancements - Four new visual modes have been added:
Tapioca – Displays the protein as a smooth surface with improved shading and depth. (Replaces "ISO Surface" visualization from earlier versions.)
Caviar – Displays the protein as a smooth surface with defined edges.
Licorice – Displays only the protein's bonds.
Backbone – Emphasizes specific sections of the protein that are of the most scientific interest to researchers.
Folding@home 1.2 adds Remote Play folding, Advanced Participation, more
It appears that more and more PS3 systems are getting access to a new version of Folding@home for PS3. Version 1.2 contains some noteworthy additions, such as the ability to activate folding from your PSP through Remote Play, and a new Advanced Participation mode for those that fold more than eight hours a day (!). Here are the updates:

I'm over 300, but not at 330. I have my own team with a few friends and we've cracked the 2000 mark.
Why the "!" after the idea of folding for more than 8 hours a day, Andrew? I leave my PS3 on 24/7 so whenever I'm sleeping or working, its folding. I just don't see any more reason to turn off my PS3 than I do to turn off my PC... I think the same 'wear and tear' issues would apply to either.

The (!) comes from people that show so much dedication to Folding@home. I know I feel guilty if I leave my PS3 on for TOO long running the app. Of course, as you can tell from the rankings, I'm not too high on our Folding team! I am glad to see others picking up my slack, though. =D

...how are people updating? I always assumed it checks for updates whenever you start it up, and if that's the case, people in Canada don't have access to it yet. Maybe it checks for an update every time it uploads a work unit?

just updated. personally, i liked the old "ball & stick" visual. this one's all blurry and glowy...
but then again, folding@home isn't about visuals and i don't look at the screen much (or at all) when i'm folding anyway.
i'm at a measly 2 units. well, just got started recently. hopefully i'll contribute a lot more to the cause.

I'm going to start folding today... I've been majorly slacking especially since I've had my PS3 since launch in Dec. When I 1st got the PS3 I wasnt too sure about leaving it on 24/7 back then either, but now I know it can handle it and Folding seems like a REALLY GOOD CAUSE to support... PS3 Fanboy Folding@home team here I come!!
@6 Byron517: Do you know what day that episode of GMA wil be aired?? I'd like to catch that if I can...

One thing I would like to see is labeled countries and as you zoom in even provinces...and states too.
By the way just heard the news about Paramount and Dreamworks. All I can say is Sony should have gave them 1 million dollars to exclusively support Blu-Ray...the rest they would have made up in sales.
