GRAW2's demo was kinda 'meh' for me. If anyone picks this up, let's use this thread to hear what's good/bad with it! (Instead of turning this into some kind of lame 360/PS3 flame skirmish... =/ We've had enough of those for a while!) =)

Saying something blatantly offensive to someone else isn't part of my definition of 'humor', and it isn't part of anyone else's (As far as I'm guessing). Clearly you think the internet gives you every right to insult people without fear of being identified, and that's sad. :/

Back on subject, im thinking about picking this up, but i might save the cash for Skate. Ill post in here if i do end up getting it.

From some of the newer screens I've seen it looks like they polished it up a bit from the demo version; a good thing as the graphics in that one didn't look quite as sharp as the 360's demo did. Not sure if I'll pick this up this week (Bioshock!) but it's definitely one I'll keep in mind as a future purchase. Too bad for GRAW2 we're getting Warhawk... then Lair... then Heavenly Sword...

The graphics look okay to me. I just hope the frame rate isn't choppy because that'll ruin the fun for sure.

The graphics are acceptable to me because I skipped the PS1, PS2, xbox, and Dreamcast generations, so I'm happier and less picky becaues of it, thankfully. But I skipped those generations for a reason. It was a starting point for shift from intense 2D gaming (3DO and Neo Geo and maybe CD-I) to Polygons and 3-D gaming. I knew that 3-D gaming with the PS1 and Sega Saturn were barely born and wanted to let the graphics grow up a ALOT. By the time the xbox came around, I was stoked. Reuniting with the gaming industry crossed my mind again for the first time, but something told me to let the companies compete against each other a little more to see if someone would try to outdo the xbox and deliver something even better, which was the norm in the industry. The xbox was already good, but I knew that the next one would be decent enough for me. Then I saw the XBOX360 running Call of Duty 2 at a local target. Boy was I unimpressed. I thought the design was ugly and the game's graphic was no better than the xbox. I was impressed with the xbox but wanted the next one, and the 360 didn't cut it at the time. I remember thinking that the animation and the sound effects were good enough. Very cinematic. But the graphics weren't the leap I was hoping for. Over time, I lost interest in the gaming industry again, for about another year or two. Then I saw the xbox360 again during a Holiday party. I was stoked again. It was running Fight Night 3 and DOA4. And boy was I impressed. I couldn't stop talking about how far graphics have gone. I knew that, from looking at the xbox360's DOA4, that it was time to get back into gaming. This is what I've been waiting for. This is when I started researching games again to see who are the current players in the industry and what are they offering. I was a bit surprised when I saw Sega croak, but I knew it would happen when I laid eyes on the Sega Saturn. I knew it was half-asses and that the company was in trouble. (The Sega Genesis in contrast was such a high qaulity build and felt so scrutinized). Nintendo was still in secrecy and then I heard of the PS3. Cnet gave it the highest score. PC magazine gave it the highest score. Gamepro gave it their highest score. And usually, I trust Cnet alot, even though they're not a gaming magazine. So, even though I knew that the 360 has good graphics, I believed that the PS3 would provide more value for me because I wanted bluray and had a hunch that bluray would win the movie format war. I might as well hit two birds with one stone - get back into gaming and deal with the new hi-definition movie playback. I wasn't worried about the PS3's graphics too much at the time. I was mainly worried about how the movie playback was going to be. That was my main concern. If the playback was horrible. I probably wouldn't have bought the PS3. Fortunately, not only is the Bluray playback one of the best in the market with the fastest load times available, but also the DVD playback rivals those of $1000 Denon DVD players. Coupled with the fact that I can finally own a PS2 and PS1 which I ignored during their times while I waited for them to mature. I wasn't just hitting two birds with one stone. I was hitting a gazzillion birds with one stone after all. I had faith that even if the PS3's graphics aren't as good as the 360's, I knew that it could never be that far off. As long as it's better than the xbox, that's the minimum I can tolerate. And boy is it better. It blew me away. Looking at Grand Turismo 5, I know it can be better than the 360 (sorry 360 people. I know it upsets you, but that I how I truly feel.)It's a good pen and paper. Don't judge it badly because of bad authors. If the story isn't good. Blame it on the writer, not the pen and paper. I think the PS3 has the best set of pen and paper avaible in terms of quality and quantity. Where are the good writers? For the most part, you can use the 360's and PS3's graphics interchangably and hardly anyone but the most diehard can tell the difference. But that will be a thing of the past. And I think the PS3 is equiped to blow the 360 out of the water. Grand Turismo 5 is what I'm basing this one. GT5 is what I've been waiting for when I left gaming almost 10 to 20 years ago. The 360 brought me back, but the features and value on the PS3 sold itself to me. And with GT5, it's delivering the graphical expectations I had when I was asking for that one small leap above the xbox's before I came into gaming again, although I thought the xbox was good enough already. I'm glad I stayed out of the growing pains after the birth of 3-D gaming with the Sega Saturn and the PS1. Looking back, those polygons make me sick. Yuck. The 2-D is great though.

Sometimes, I wonder what gaming would've been like today had Sega and Nintendo still dominated and Sony and Microsoft could care less about gaming. Where would we be graphically and gameply wise had they still remained the giant. Games have changed a bit. And in a way, I think Ninja Gaiden Sigma is one of my favorites because it remains me of an old style gaming somehow, even though graphics are spruced up with all these new fancy buttons. When I play it, I kind of automatically think back to the NES days with games like Amagon or Guerrilla war or Metroid. Not sure why.

I'm most shocked by the console war. That really caught me off guard. Not only are the consumers fighting, but the magazines seem to jump-in in full force and openly. Without the internet back then, this was pretty rare. And if magazines said anthing, it was very discreet and subtle and as a matter-of-fact rather than what I've seen so far today. Maybe it's beause of the chattiness and bluntess developed by chatrooms and emails and forums that makes writing seem more spontaneous and chatty at times. It was more innocent back in the days. Come in from school after riding your back. Pick up a mag and just hear a calm soothing voice telling you about what's new. Or how close a console game was compared to the arcades. A carbon copy to the arcades was the term. Now it feels almost like every magazine is to cover a war with war stories, war strategies, war casualty results, and war status.

home consoles used to compete against arcades. It's pretty much killed arcades already. Now home consoles will try to compete against movies. Soon, it'll try to compete against life, if it hasn't already in a sense. Several years ago, I was talking to a girl about this, telling her how I'm disgusted with violence in games (even though some of my favorites are turning out to be those violent games) and that when the the technology permits, developers can start making social games. For instance, if you're bored, you can put on virtual reality helmets and plug yourself into a treadmill like machine with wires. You can now walk and talk and see and feel and hear and touch and smell. If you're bored. You can instantly be put into social games with real people in everyday situations rather than ninjas around the world in real life locations. I'm not going to explain everythign clearly as I did back then, but it kind of resembles what Sony's doing now with HOME. It's so strange. I remember telling her this and then a few people in a forum about it, about how I'm tired of violent gaming ath that they shoulud make a more social type of game. Then a few months later, Sony reveals HOME....I've got other ideas for gaming's uses too, but I don't know if I should mention them. It bothers me to this day. If Sony came up wiht this on their own, then that's fine...But I better not mention anymore.

it was a comment i made because it seemed funny that person 'A' who's on a next-gen news site, didn't know that this game is old...and person 'B', just answered the question nonchalantly. To be honest, I thought both of them were attempting to be sarcastic...and making a joke together. Hence my comment.

Go back and read my first comment and see if it REALLY offends either one of you. If you're TRULY offended by such soft remarks...then i apologize, but to make such a huge deal out of something so small...really shows that YOU have some issues you need to deal with.

Great! GRAW 2 is coming out this week? Definitely going to rent it.

I played the demo after downloading it from the PSN and the game was ok for me. I like the RE4 over the shoulder perspective. But, I'm not sure if I want to shell out the cash yet for it given that Warhawk and then Heavenly Sword will be released real soon.

@ Consolcwby, too bad I'm a Mac kind of guy... and even though they've started putting out more games for the mac platform, I'm happier to play on my PS360, 42" plasma and 5.1 sound system in the comforts of my living room. Besides, between those two systems I'm not hurting for games at all. Hell, I've got a backlog of ps2 and xbox games to make my way through anyway.
