Threespeech has again posted today's PSN update for the whole world to weep over. The update itself isn't up yet, but the following is what we can expect when it finally does arrive:
- Armoured Core 4 Demo (free)
- Heavenly Sword Anime episode 2 (free)
- Heavenly Sword Making-of episode 2 (free)
Another fairly dire update. Honestly, has anyone not downloaded the
Armoured Core 4 demo from the US store yet? It's been up for weeks. The
Heavenly Sword anime episode will be an entertaining 5 minutes or so, but we expect more. Still waiting on
Blast Factor: Advanced Research here, Sony. Make it happen.

Starting to loose my rag with sony. There are a couple of demos we know are ready, everyday shooter I believe is finished, did they just look at the US store and say "hmm well the EU hasn't had that demo yet, we could fob them off with that!". LAME!

waiting for that puzzlegame as well... oh and why do we need to pay more for rub'a'dub (Just principle, the game isn't worth it)? Does it take THAT long to make a simple discount over here?
I have no idea what the bottlenecks are, but this makes me annoyed!

Oh yay, Armored Core 4. Thanks Sony, we europeans have already had to create fake US accounts to not starve, and no months after you feed us this old demo? Why is it so hard to keep global releases?

This is getting stupid now why no rachet and clank demo thats supposed to be released guessing us europeans will have to wait another couple of months!
At least get the open beta going for home or something and stop piling us off with shitty demo's we have had for ages or stupid trailers.
Love my ps3 but this is just taking the piss.

If I was to guess why Europe always sees things later it'd be that it's hard to go through the ratings systems of all the different countries. Of course, Microsoft does ok with releasing the same stuff for Europe as they release for the US, right?
It'd be nice if Sony would actually address this on their blog. People are surprisingly understanding when they understand the reason for things. As of right now all we know is that Sony is holding things back for Europe and even the US.

I can only assume that Sony is saving the big guns for Lipzig. If they are not doing this, then I would like to ask you Sony, what the FUCK are you doing? Are you trying to get back in this console race or are you purposely trying to FUCK it up?
Logic would dictate that the marketing team is planning something big, or that they have been infiltrated by Microsoft agents and they are sabotaging the PS3.
I know Phil is a very smart man. I will give them till Lipzig to pull their collective asses out of thier hats. If this is all part of a ploy, to get negative buzz going and then BAMM, they throw a ton of goodies at us then I will understand why the drought before the storm.
Still, I see new demos and new stuff popping up almost on a daily basis for Live, and I know I am not the only one who is a bit jealous of the 360 owners who have WORKING systems.
Please Sony, enough of this, just release the big demos that you have......NOW!!!!

Kinda sad! Sony use to be the top dog, now they are just a sad mut! The PSN is a damn joke and I'm really starting to hate that I bought a PS3. Demos are weak most of the time if we do get one. Then is bad enough I have to wait 6 months after the 360 has the same demo but to find out demos are already finished and sony just isn't posting them is sad sad sad.

@7: "I can only assume that Sony is saving the big guns for Lipzig."
That I can accept. The EU gets shafted, but it isn't like US releases are bountiful either. I'm pinning a lot of hopes on this mini-E3.
Fortunately, the games release schedule is pretty full beginning in September. So if my hopes are dashed, I at least have games to play from here on in.

given all the demos that came out on XBL recently, it seems silly for sony not to pull out some big guns this week.
imo, matching what is on xbl content wise will never suffice. sony needs to show people the value of the ps3 and the psn by getting content out there in droves. a good start would a ratchet and clank demo that lasts more than 5 minutes.

Well do keep in mind that these demos can't just be pushed out the door the moment the last line of code is written. They do have to be QA tested. That can be a very time-intensive process. So "done" doesn't always mean done. That's why I'm not freaking out over this whole situation.
I don't need things today, but I would like solid releases dates for upcoming stuff. I don't suppose that's too much to ask for.

whats the best way for someone to create a japan / hongkong / etc account? Apparently you need full valid address details?
Demos are definitely a bit thin on the ground but it will be worth the wait... maybe a bit overwhelming, once the games start flowing. It's been said before, it's going to be an expensive Christmas with all the (decent) new releases out at pretty much the same time.

righto we all know the EU update sucks, tbh, I was kinda expecting this sort of crap again, but has anything been added to the jap/hk/usa stores?
I've only had my ps3 a month now so I'm quite happy with the amount of demos I've played, but one thing does really really piss me off.... why o why o why did the hot shots golf demo get removed from the jap store before I had a chance to grab it... NNNOOOOooooo, thats just wrong, actually removing demos ! bad bad bad... unless of course it's still up there, but I've gone thru every bloody menu more than once looking for it and nothing.

*GOD!
all you joystiq/fanboy people do is *BITCH!
*SHUT UP you whiny, spoiled little bastards!
i know the updates are slow in coming, but do you remember when the PS3 *FIRST came out, and there was *NOTHING??
the system is barely 9 months old.
Sony owns studios in the music, movie, television, and video game industries.
do you *HONESTLY think that they don't have a plan for all of that, and how it ties into their strongest brand; the Playstation?
i understand wanting more demos *I want more demos too, but whining like little children about it isn't going to make it happen faster.
on the Playstation Blog, they've already acknowledged that they've heard your pleas, and are working to address them.
demos have to go through a certification process, so it takes longer to put them up.
videos, i'm sure, don't have that long of a process.
but why should they release demos for games that won't be due for another 4, 5 months?
that's not *HELPING, despite the fact that a few rabid, hungry PS3 fanboys may be satiated.
the point of a demo is for marketing purposes.
releasing a demo 1 to 2 months before release (ie, Heavenly Sword), serves to hype up the user for the game.
too early, and there's a possibility that the fire and momentum could die out, or get stale, and the title forgotten by those that *DON'T peruse internet sites everyday looking for every scrap of news for their most anticipated titles.
a well timed demo release can keep the momentum going.
we should get a Lair demo soon, ideally before launch. if the demo is good, it could re-infuse sales, especially after all the mixed feedback we've been seeing lately. while i do think a Lair demo *EARLIER may have helped prevent the scenario *PERIOD, it could be possible, much like the Heavenly Sword demo, that the Lair demo would be using an older build; ie, a build with the very same issues that mags like EGM were complaining about in their initial review (you know, before all the backpaddling). if the reason why we haven't gotten a demo such as Lair yet is because they're trying to give us a more current build, i'm all for it.
so please, just *STOP the incessant whining, and pulling out the ol' "i'm ready to turn my back on the Playstation for good!" standby, and be *PATIENT.
not even 5 months ago, things on the PSN were much, much *WORSE.
they've improved significantly since then, and they are *STILL improving.
games are coming, which should, in theory, nix all this complaining about the lack of *DEMOS.
a better use of all your time would be finding ways to save up all the money you'll need for the absolute *ONSLAUGHT of fall titles hitting the PS3 this year, starting with Warhawk at the end of this month (at which point, there is, at least *ONE major release *EVERY WEEK until the end of December 2007; at least for North America).

@17 / Figboy
you, sir, are my hero.
it seems like people bitch about not having demos and/or games. demos and games come out, and people bitch that they're not the ones that they want.
it seems like every week, these comment pages turn into a "whine-ery".
yeah, we all want demos, but do you have any idea what it takes to get a demo made, tested, and certified? i'll take it those of you who are the most vocal whiners have NO CLUE, otherwise you'd understand that "done" doesn't mean the same thing as "ready to put on the Store".
welcome to the age of screaming babies.
fanboy tantrums FTL.
