While Clive Barker is most commonly known for his work on horror novels, as well as the upcoming title
Jericho thanks to the development team over at Codemasters, the two don't want to part ways anytime soon. We've already talked about the possibility of the
Jericho series becoming a trilogy, but we didn't talk about the idea of Clive Barker going all Tom Clancy on us -- getting a lot of different game licenses out there and flooding the market with titles.
It's not a bad thing, since Barker has actually done something beyond political intrigue/spy espionage. He's got a large back catalogue of not just horror, but fantasy as well. Not goblins and elves ... more like Gaiman-esque fantasy. We're interested to see if this idea comes to fruition, especially if
Jericho proves to be a good title. We'll keep you posted.

I think this would be nice to see Barker's movies and his past games have been good. So to see more games from Barker would be nice to see.

His games are the kinds of games I'd like to see be AO rated... For once I want the living daylights scared out of me by a game and to have to fend off nightmares.
That rush only comes from movies these days. As a kid I used to get that feeling from playing Doom with the lights off. My how things have changed.
Think what it would be like for a game to be as graphic as Event Horizon or some other movie like that... That'd be creepy as hell.

Good news to hear. I like Barker's work. I agree with miglaugh about not quite having that feeling of getting scared nowadays while playing certain games. I'd love to get that feeling back hopefully with Barker's games.
I'd love to see a Hellraiser game. And hopefully a Freddy vs Pinhead if Barker & Craven can make it work.

I haven't been scared in a game since the first two Resident Evils on PS1.
Fear is a tricky thing to create in a game because you interact with it, and control it to affect the outcome. True fear comes from feeling a loss of control, seizing up and being unable to defend yourself, being trapped against an impossible enemy, etc. Resident Evil got it right by limiting what the player sees (fixed camera angles) to create surprises. They also made good use of light and sound.
Another thing that the horror genre depends on is showing you just enough to terrify you. Did you know the original Psycho shower scene never showed the knife stabbing the girl? Yet people leaving the theater remembered it vividly. That's because the film led them to believe and their imaginations took over...and that's where the real fear came from.

I wish that Codemasters would include "Clive Barker's Undying" on the Jericho disc. I have always heard it was a great game but never played it.
