Not everything was rosy, though. The BBC criticized the incomplete build, stating the "game mechanics of the level I saw are not particularly innovative," and that overall "Killzone 2 is an archetypal shooter - a futuristic action title that draws on the symbolism of World War II to create a sense of familiarity." Throwing grenades still needs some work, and the hyper-realistic violence will probably spark more debate about the worn-out violence-in-videogames stance. We don't really care -- we just want to get our hands on this game!

the more feedback they receive should be better for the developers.

KHCloud, a demo of this game right now would completely own the hype they need to sell the games =)
So no we don't want a demo right now lol.

A demo at this early stage?
LOL!
Impossible. IGN and everyone else would rip the game to shreds, saying how this and that doesn't work right, etc. If we're lucky, they might throw in a sentence at the end of the article like "although this is an early build bla bla bla".
We don't even get demos for *finished* games half the time.

these news are apperearing everywhere and even thou people say that who cares what bbc says all these comments are obviously from haters.. it's still good to know that we got a winner in the near future..
i mean we all know great games are coming but we just don't have any yet.. HS looks great, drakes' fortune's graphics are incredible but nothing out yet.. i know that most of us can't even imagine what 2010 it's gonna be looking like..
either way so it's good to know that our wait is ending in 2 weeks and all of the sudden we not gonna be hanging out at ps3fnboy so much.. lol

looks kinda depressing. but that's the look they are going for i guess...limited color palette, focus more on dynamic effects and animation.
but why is the Helghast the posterboy of Killzone? i guess faceless gunmen look the best on boxart these days, *coughHAZE HALOcoughcough*

I understand what popfrogs and Dahk are saying, but I have to disagree with them. For example, look at Lost Planet. Capcom released the demo almost a full year before the game shipped and it rocked. As a result, the Lost Planet quickly sold over 1 million copies dispite the mixed reviews and luke warm critical reception.
So really all Killzone 2 needs is 1 polished demo to set the hype train into motion and ensure success.

the funny thing is. killzone STILL isnt taking full advantage of ps3. wait another 2 years tops, and youll see why ps3 truely is better than the 360.

"taking full advantage of the ps3", lol, still using the phrase eh
i predict graphics wont get much better than this, just a tad, but not much more. there isnt enough computational power in these systems to render something "unimaginable" in realtime.
hope is always good though :)
i just hope the 360 hasn't been "capped" yet by Mass Effect..i hope.

It's being celebrated as the most immersive game SO FAR. Of course there are going to be some better games but for now Killzone reigns supreme.
Back to Topic:
I'm really hoping they add new mechanics into the gameplay. The weather thing sounds interesting, but it doesn't seem like it's part of gameplay at all. I love the series as I've played through the original and Liberation, but this is honestly looking more like a prettied-up expansion.
...but more info could prove me wrong! :D

Wow this game just might be the most hyped sequel to just a mediocre, average original title ever. This might be the biggest reason that i'm getting a PS3

@11 I'm sorry to say this, but you couldn't be more wrong. Look at the history of ANY console and you'll see the games out in the first year or two are a far cry from the system's graphical capabilities. Usually in the system's last year or two, games push every once of the system. Developers usually have to come up with programming tricks to squeeze out more...
Sit back I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised of what we will see in the future.
*opinion below*
Once developers learn how to use the SPEs and not rely so much on the limited 256mb of system ram, things will improve greatly.

Baah, I remember hearing the same thing about Black. Just the reviewers going OMG crazy over a early unreleased game, that they couldn't show us.
And we all see how that turned out.
Or how Immersive Doom 3 was supposed to be.. even all the great reviews, untill everyone realized it was repetitive. They are all talking heads and supposed to say good things about the game.. esically when some marketing guy is standing next to them. I don't believe it about Halo 3, I don't believe it about Metroid 3, nor do I believe it about Killzone 3.... er 2. It's all Hype.

I don't see this game as proving the PS3 to be overwhelming superior to the competing console, but rather to show which things the PS3 is better for.
The SPUs are great for real-time physics (better than any general purpose processor) and the use of Blu-Ray discs as standard game storage, combined with the standard HDD, allow a much bigger variety in level design.
Let's hope KZ2 is successful enough to encourage third party to do the effort. That's how important this game is.

not to sound like a troll.... but there is a difference between "ONE of the most cinematic and immersive games ever produced on a CONSOLE"
and the title of this artice translating that to them saying "the most immersive experience ever"...but then again, this is PS3 fanboy...

Did... Did you read the article, Tim?
As for Duscrom's comments, I thoroughly enjoyed those games mentioned. Does the game need massive amounts of critical praise from every single person ever to be considered fun?
The medium used to be about entertainment.
