We think Sony should put a warning before letting consumers download and purchase PixelJunk Racers from the PSN. What should it say? "Requires HDTV."
It's not because of Dead Rising-style text mismanagement. Rather, the game requires pixel-perfect gameplay (hence the name) that simply isn't possible on a SDTV. One look at this low-res GameVideos.com trailer shows exactly what the problem is: you can't see the gameplay without enough pixels!
The game is a blast to play, in spite of its retro-grade graphics. But, we highly doubt it'll be playable on a SDTV. Hopefully, Sony will include a disclaimer in their promotional materials -- we wouldn't want angry non-HD players that feel ripped off for buying this game.

Oh dear, that game would give me some serious eye strain even with my hdtv. The sound effects sound like they're lifted from a 16-bit game.
I think I'll give this one a miss!

I'm running a 17" lcd at 1080i (I know, I know) - I think this game would make my eyes bleed even more than they already do (but i'll probs buy it anyway)

Ummmm... Shouldn't all PS3 games be played on a HDTV??? Why the F would you want to play any PS3 game in SD?? Like showstoper said, you should just stick with PS2 if you weren't ready to take the complete plunge into the full HD experience... I bought a PS3 1st, hooked it up to my SDTV, thought to myself there is no way in hell I could continue playin my PS3 looking like this, I went and took the plunge the next day and got my Sony Bravia 40XBR3 LCD and haven't looked back since...

your all retarded, ps3 is for anyone that can afford one, thats the ballers than buy on a whim to the kids who save up some checks from mcdonalds to afford one. why do ppl think owning a ps3 is like joining the stonecutters and they are a cut above the rest, ha dont make me laugh!
that being said, you really, really, really need a hdtv to enjoy it, i have it hooked up to the sdtv in the bedroom when i wanna lay down and play and be all uber comfortable with my shoes off and a blunt in the air, but thats the excemption not the rule and its usually in the living room hooked up the hdtv

Remember when they posted Sprint and no one but me was excited?
THIS is how I remember Sprint!
This game looks really fun, but I must absolutely agree: need a big, hi-def tv.
I mean, when I first got my ps3 the only tv I had was a Commodore 1702 13" color monitor. Tite!
But I couldn't play this game on there, shooz, I think my 36" may not be big enough.

Maybe we should focus on educating these ignorant ballers. Then we would have fewer ChadWardens to make gamers look like losers.
On the game video, it looks like the most mediocre game yet. I don't see how this could be fun.

One giant rule of interface design: don't make things too small. At least the player's car glows red, though.

Uh, isn't that what demos are for?
