No limit on PS3 Unreal Tournament 3 mods says Mark Rein
In a recent interview with Joystiq the Vice President of Epic, Mark Rein, makes it clear that PS3 mods for Unreal Tournament 3 will have no limits. "Anything that can put into a level" can be included. ""Level" is a little deceiving now because, with the streaming system that we have, a level isn't just one map anymore. But anything you can put in there, which includes maps, models, Unreal Kismet scripts, Unreal Script, textures, shaders, matinee instructions." So total conversion mods will easily be possible, when utilizing all those tools.
Rein summed it all up by saying that "Anything that we can do, you can do." Sounds good to us. Check out the full interview at Joystiq.

The modding ability is a HUGE trump card on that other FPS (halo3)... MS KNOWS this and is one of the reasons they are balking against having mods on UT3 on 360.

This is almost too good to be true. UT is already my favorite series on the computer. I had no idea the full computer experience would finally come to a console. I can't wait! No need to upgrade the computer now!

In an interview with Joystiq, Mark Rein, president of Epic says he thought about putting mouse and keyboard support in UT3 for PS3.
But he's still not sure if it's worth it.
I quote: "I'd be interested to see if people really wanted it or not."
Well I just sent him a short polite email saying it was really important for me. Please do the same if you want Mouse and Keyboard support in UT3 in addition to Joystiq support.

In the full article Mark Rein says,
"It took us a year after Xbox 360 and here we are less than a year after PlayStation 3 and I'd say that today Unreal Tournament 3 runs better on PS3 than Gears did on Xbox 360 at the same point in its development."
Oh hell yeah!!!

@10: You can't, because Microsoft owns the license to Gears, and if ever a TC is made it would get off the servers immediately, at least on PS3 side, probably not on PC, but since Gears is coming to PC there's no use to it.

At last, for the first time a real possibility for hobby developers to bring their own game to a console, and without any technical restrictions whatsoever.
I think it can't be estimated highly enough what this means for the PS3 community; until now, only actual game companies were allowed to create PS3 games and distribute them through PSN or on BDs, but with Unreal mods, there's finally a way for everyone to create professional-level games on their own!
It's good to have a PS3!
