Why are we so excited about Everyday Shooter? It's hard to explain until you get the controller in your hand and you experience the unique blend of visuals, music and gameplay that Jon Mak's PSN indie title offers. The trailer on the PlayStation Store does little to give full insight into the game's potential, and we feel like simply watching the title doesn't do it justice. Regardless, here are some new videos from the game, and hopefully you'll understand exactly why we're excited. It won't be everyone's game ... which is a shame, considering its name.

I really hope that in the final build of the game the samples don't sound like guitar recordings made in a 12 year-old's bedroom and more like studio recorded riffs. The quality of the samples is awful. Maybe they're just placeholders for development?

Everytime I see game in motion I think back to this years GDC where instead of going to a appointment with Phillips for the ABX tech I sat in the IGF section and played Everyday shooter.
I can not wait for this game to come out

The video distorts the samples quite a bit, It sounded great at GDC.

The way the game looks it feels like it is some thing you would see in the 70s. The game really looks nice. It in some ways puts you to sleep almost in a Hypnoses kind of way. Which is not bad. I think it is great that Sony is bringing all these grea indie games to PSN so I hope this one comes out great.

I love how many PSN titles are more about mood and gameplay than polygon count (better graphics)
Because you can't play graphics you only look at them!

Actually, to me, this feels like the first true successor to Rez.

As for the game...is this not just another rehashed Asteroids/Omega Race with a little Star Castle thrown in for good measure?

Well, this is definitely a chill-out shooter. I'd rather have Crimsonland.
Watching this video actually reminds me more of the difference between Geometry Wars and Grid Wars. Geometry Wars lets you weave your way around enemies and harvest them into groups, allowing you to develop a strategy. Grid Wars (and everyday shooter) just spawns stuff all over the place and tends to back you into a corner, so essentially all you do is just stay in one place and shoot. That doesn't sound a whole lot of fun to me.
At least Grid Wars overwhelms the hell out of you and gives you weapon upgrades. This game... well, if that's not level 1, then it doesn't look like there's a whole lot to do.
