(Sorry for the cheesy headline pun.)
Tiger Hill's impressive Stranglehold appears to have caught a few snags on PS3. Although the Xbox 360 and PC versions will ship on August 27th, the PS3 version has been delayed three weeks. Reasons for the new September 17th release date are unclear -- could it be Unreal Engine issues?
We'll tolerate the wait, if only because Stranglehold was one of the best action games we've played at E3. The over-the-top action will certainly bring a smile to any hardcore gamer. And, we''d rather get the PS3 version, if only because the Collector's Edition will include an HD version of "Hard Boiled" on the same disc, making it the clear choice for consumers looking for the best value.

I don't thinka 3 weeks delay is due to a development issue. It's probably more of a marketing issue.

I'll bet it's has everything to do with Hard Boiled and nothing to do with the development of the game.

I agree. I think its more a marketing issue. Lair, Warhawk and Heavenly Sword all come out August/early September...(+Graw2...)

If it DOES have to do with development, I'd much rather have to wait longer for a more polished game.

if it's to make the game run better, then i'm all for it, but i think it has more to do with Hard Boiled than the actual game (they've been working on it for the PS3 for a long enough time to have come to grips with the hardware).
it's been getting great feedback, so i'm looking forward to it.
i'll be picking up Lair on August 14th, then Warhawk on the 28th (or is it the 22nd?), and Heavenly Sword on September 4th, so i think i'll be okay with Stranglehold being pushed back to the 17th.
i mean, damn, where am i gonna get all the money for 4 $60 games in the span of one month?
i better whip out my old prostitutin' boots.

Can't be development, most anything they have now is already done. I like how the author was very clear in the end of this piece, that the ps3 version would be most suited to those looking for the best value-- not necessarily the best gameplay.
Any problems the ps3 port might have compared to 360 would have to be almost entirely ironed out, by now.
And I'm nervous because releasing a ps3 game essentially at the same time as the 360 version tends to suggest that development was parallel-- which could indicate that since the ps3 takes generally (right now) longer to develop the same or better gameplay/graphics, we may be able to postulate that historically, there is a strong possibility that the ps3 version could be the weaker version.
But, it comes with the movie. Which we can now watch at 24 frames per second, just like the film.

I had to think hard about which version and I decided to get the 360 version as I cared more about my acheivement points over seeing that movie. I would want those 1000 points to add to my near 11,000 score over the movie which I was not all that much a fan for.

This blows! I pre-ordered the PS3 version with Amazon for the sole reason being getting Hard Boiled on Blu-Ray. Now I am pissed that it's pushed back til September. Amazon sent me an email seeking my authorization of the new delivery date, which for them could be as late as Sept. 22nd. I was all set to be playing Stranglehold and watching Hard Boiled on Blu-Ray at the end of August. Ain't going to happen now, is it Sony?
As tempting as getting the 360 version at release is, I think I'm going to wait it out. Hard Boiled on Blu-Ray is a big reason. But, the real reason I'll wait is I have a $5 discount from Amazon for pre-ordering The Deathly Gallows. Using the discount equals free standard shipping. So I'll be a cheap bastard and save a few duckets as the cost of waiting for the PS3 version.
It still blows monkey dick. And I have a feeling the three week push back is due to Marketing reasons. Why else?
