The
EU PSN got updated earlier today with a demo of
The Darkness. All very exciting. Until we see what's up on the US store. Oh how we cried with envy. Seriously, lots of tears. Anyway, here's the list of updates for this week:
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night PS1 game for PSP/PS3 ($9.99)
- inFAMOUS E3 Trailer (free)
- Two Gran Turismo 5 Prologue E3 Trailers (free)
- Ratchet and Clank: Future Trailer (free)
- Heavenly Sword Making-of video (free)
- The Brothers Solomon Movie trailer (free)
- Resident Evil: Extinction Movie trailer (free)
- I Am Legend Movie trailer (free)
- The Big One Movie trailer (free)
- Underdog Movie trailer (free)
Oh Sony, you've done us proud. No leaks, no announcements, just a game release. Not to mention the excellent inFAMOUS trailer from E3. We'll be downloading Castlevania: SOTN as soon as we've finished this post. What about you?

That really pisses me off. What the hell Sony? XBOX Live is literally getting like 4 demos a week and we haven't gotten one demo in 3 weeks. How bout' working a little closer with your third parties to get them to give you a demo so we can be happy?
I already have SOTN and a new PSone game shouldn't even count as a new release because it's already out. Thanks Sony, just thanks. You could of at least thrown us a demo of Heavenly Sword or Lair or Ratchet & Clank, or any of your other 120 upcoming games.

Well, I do have a 360 Gold Account too, but all the demos and stuff on XBOX Live are free, so there is no difference in that. Even with a silver free account, I can get the same things I can with the gold. Not trying to start an argument, but Sony is my favorite console and they need to step their game up to win.

Aren't demos on XBL free though? As in, you can download them with a Silver membership? I also have to admit that the numerous XBL demos have me a bit jealous. I was hoping for Heavenly Sword, but looks like no luck this week.
I'm not getting SotN since I'll be buying Dracula X for PSP which includes SotN, but this is a great sign nonetheless. I think this is the first third party PS1 game on the US PSN, meaning more is likely to come. FFVII anyone?

well it was already announced that Heavenly Sword demo's coming next week, so...
it takes time to make games and demos. i'd rather them have a kick arse E3 like they did and put polish on their games than waste that time throwing together some half-baked demo. it's not "5 guys programming in their basement" anymore.
heck, Nintendo doesn't give demos at all, and you had to subscribe to a magazine or buy your demoes for the PS2.
not trying to argue either, but it just seems a little much to expect demos every single week so early into the PS3's lifespan.

Either way, Demos are cool, but I'd rather Sony keep up its incredible line up of PS1 games for my PSP, and all the pretty cool PSN arcade games, they all seem to be QUALITY, even if they are few and far between.

I would love to have Symphony of the Night (again), I'll just wait a few years until it makes its way to the European PSN store.

It isn't worth it. The Darkness doesn't really appeal to me but a good demo would convince me

The SoTN download is a 100% copy of the original game, unlike the Xbox Live version (I know, as I have it.)
Given that this is the first PS1 download I've bought, I'm still impressed that it is not only an exact copy, but it is so exact that it reads my old save file. Any word on if the Japanese version is available on the Japanese PSN store?

Okay nerds (those who defend sony at all costs) listen up!
I own all three next gen consoles so let me be clear when I say that XBOX Live (even the free silver accounts) offer way more than PSN. In my opinion PSN is a complete joke!
You wanna know what I did on my 360 last week? I downloaded about 6 demos for UPCOMING games! I downloaded a few movies and four episodes of "lil bush"! I'm playing a new ace combat demo as we speak (free - as is all the other demos on XBL). So how the hell can you defend sony not stepping their game up and offering us some demos and some decent content ON A REGULAR BASIS?
I have several friends who own both PS3 and 360. These are not the type of gamers who even understand the term "fanboy". They don't go to PS3fanboy.com or ps3forums to find out why the PS3 store is 95% crap. These are regular gamers who expect something from their next gen console and are pissed when they do not recieve it. These are the type of gamers who make up the majority of the gaming market...not the folks on this forum.
I personally don't care what Sony's excuse is for lowering the bar on what is supposed to be "the complete digital entertainment experience". I don't care about what sony's plans for the future are. All I know is that right now my $600.00 weekly letdown is collecting dust and losing the console war.
Step your game up Sony. Give the people what they want - when they want it. Consistent Content Sony!
