Metal Gear Solid Online to be shown next week

Hideo Kojima is hosting a Metal Gear party next Tuesday! At the Ritz Carlton in Tokyo, the big 20th anniversary of the franchise gets its very own celebration, complete with a lot of interesting surprises, detailed below.
  • An in-game demonstration of MGS4: Guns of the Patriots played by Kojima himself.
  • First look at some kind of online multiplayer for the Metal Gear Solid series ... more on that after the list.
  • New "series content", possibly re-releases or spin-offs like VR Missions.
  • Official statement regarding Metal Gear: Portable Ops +.
We're confused about the online multiplayer. Everywhere we look regarding this rumor, it's never clear if Kojima means to imply that Metal Gear Solid 4 will have online multiplayer support or if there will be a different game specially designed to support that. We'd like to take on the role of trainees for Foxhound and fight other people, so if it's a separate game, we're cool with that.

2. I hope they release like a re-worked MGS3:subsistence online mode for download on the PSN and also show some MGS4 online.

3. Wouldn't it be great if image from the robots camera could be sent right to your PSP? And you could control it's movement and camera position via PSP as well. Lots of possibilities there.

8. i believe when kojima released subsistence, the purpose was for testing ground an online MGS4. he said that way back when MGS3 subsistence was announced.

I would suspect that he was telling the truth. you call yourselves fanboys...

10. Even if it goes to 360, PS3 online is free so I would still be happy. I doubt that rumour is true because if its getting ported outside the main devs it could be a disaster.

Imagine trying to port a 30 GB game onto a 9GB dvd.

11. This whole online thing makes me think its also heading to 360. Probably a few months later though.

@10.
Because MGS is a very linear game (as oppose to say GTA) it can easily be spread over a few discs, just like the first MGS.

Either way Im looking forward to this one. Its probably gonna make me buy a ps3.

12. @4 There is no question about that.

Its just a same that there are no more around like him.

I would guess that the whole devs @ EA rolled in one would not even touch Kojima.

Since this is the last MSG game, I just hope he does produce other games of a similar quality for the PS3.

13. Tie me to a rocket and fire me to Tokyo. If my corpse lands somewhere near the new showing of MGS4 thats good enough.
