Why do we think it's Twisted Metal? What other game has a clown that would be so delighted to have an atomic explosion bearing a laughing clown hidden therein? Only Sweet Tooth will suffice. Yeah, the face doesn't look as dark and sadistic as Sweet Tooth, but the fact remains: there is an explosion and it is a clown. We welcome Twisted Metal coming on the PS3, even if it's a collection of the old games. Though we'd love a new entry with some badass online modes and "Create Your Own" car of sometimes-humorous death.

What I don't get is where this came from?
It looks too good to be a fake, but I would like to know the source of the picture...

I owned Head ON and while it had its highs it had its fair share of lows as well, mangled up storyline and vehicle drivers kinda dissapointed me.
But if this is a new TM for the PS3, this will top my hype bar and sit right under Killzone 2, because seeing as the last real TM to come out was a PS2 release game, this is the calling for a resurrection.

I think the lack of yearly twisted metal games is a good thing. It gives them a chance to do it once per console and make significant changes.

Twisted Metal and Twisted Metal 2 were mainstays in my PSone. It sure as hell looks like Sweet Tooth to me.
I would bet this will be an online only PSN game. Can you imagine, a PS3 TM online?
Frack yes...bring it on, as long as Jaffe's team is at the helm...and NOT 989 studios (if they even exist anymore)

Twisted Metal 2 was kind of the defining Playstation game for me. It was the first thing I played that was really fundamentally beyond what could be done in the 16-bit era, and I wouldn't even want to guess how many hours I put into it.
Yes, god yes. Bring back Twisted Metal. But do it in the style of the first two games, with the arcade gameplay and the lighthearted tone. Bring back the animated cutscenes and Sideshow-Bob-Colypso! (There was a classic character if I ever saw one). And stay the hell away from the ridiculous attempt at making the series "dark" and "realistic" in TM: Black on PS2!
I don't know anything about these PSP versions, so I don't know how they stack up.

By the way, did anybody see on Dave Jaffe's blog a while ago that a Twisted Metal documentary covering the series is in the works? It's here:

I can't imagine a project like that being made for anything except a bonus on the disk of a new TM game. And if he's promoting it, I'd guess Jaffe must be involved.

TWISTED METAL!!!! **falls over**
If this really is a sign of the return of TM, then I sure as hell hope they are going for destructable environments! It's one thing to blow a car up, it's quite another to drop a building on one... and as for which TM I prefer?... I'll take any of the PSOne or PS2 games over H3 anyday!!! =P
