Gran Turismo 5 Prologue coming to Japan in October
You thought you'd have to wait until 2008 for some Gran Turismo fun, didn't you? Well you can stop thinking that right now as the latest piece of news to come out of the PlayStation Premiere event in Tokyo is an announcement that GT 5 prologue will be available in Japan in October. What is effectively a demo for Gran Turismo 5 will feature full online support as well as some cars which will be featuring in this year's Tokyo Motor Show.
Whether it will be available in the US or EU in October is up in the air, however it's fairly safe to assume it will be out before the end of the year. There is no word yet on what the price will be for the download, considering the current PSN offering is downloadable for free.

Well this is great news, hopefully it means that the Final Version will be out soon after. Sony hasn't stopped letting us US games create Overseas accounts have they?

No the have not. I would seriously doubt that they would not release Prologe here in the States.
This game will make Forza2 look like a that girl that Smokey got set up with in Friday.

The only thing I like about Forza 2 is that you can paint your car the way you want. I hope that will be possible in GT5! A red car isnt cool, but a red car with tag and flame or whatever you want is what make it cool! I don't care about damage but I hope I will be able to paint my GT5 car the way I want!
Anyone know if we will be able to paint our car in GT5?

After watching that demo clip showing the full interiors plus drivers...it's just awe-inspiring. I don't see how you could make a more beautiful driving game.
Hopefully they throw in some modes like "free drive" where you hop in a convertible and take some scenic cruises at famous locations.

You know, usually I'd dismiss the kind of stuff GodisaMyth said as fanboy ranting, but after watching the trailer clip Rob posted, I'm inclined to agree.
That was simply unbeliavable.
I might have to move to Japan :)

Thanks for the link to the video. The way it showed the weight transfer during braking and turns was sweet! I would definitely spend the money on the Logitech G25 wheel for this game alone as long as it supports it fully.
Haha.....I wouldn't say 100 times better, but the cars to look more detailed. and the models look more three dimensional all the way down the to the wheels. It's more detailed that forza in that sense.
Forza does well on it's own merits and I really can't take anything away from it until I get my hands on GT5.

1m30 into that video, i count 15 cars in one shot and 12 in the other shot, so much for 8 car maximum for Prologue :D
Im guessing there may be an 8 car limit for online play, but there are definately more than 8 cars which is cool to see. Pack that grid up!!
Simply stunning!

GT5 looks superb. The detail is simply stunning (I paused the overhead shot of the TVR, and you can see the radiator and radiator fans through the hood vents). But the biggest improvement over previous series is the physics. The weight transfer is crazy (just look at the nose dive of the Alfa! Just like in real life, lol).
#7(manic) They removed it because adding racing customization is like adding a whole different car model (modeling time is the same).

I think it is definately safe to say that GT5 will crush the competition aka Forza 2.
