Tears to Tiara -- will anyone other than Japan ever get a PS3 JRPG?

First off, the screenshot above is from Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, not this new RPG. We're not allowed to use magazine scans as pictures, you see! Anyway, PS3 Forums member Jeremiah (who we doubt very much is a bullfrog) recently slapped up some Famitsu scans revealing a new PS3 title called Tears to Tiara, or something similar. The game is an RPG -- the most hardcore of role playing games, featuring anime characters who just happen to be scantily clad. For the niche audience out there, we know what you're thinking. "Why the hell haven't we heard anything about this?" We're asking the same thing, but it's an easy answer. It's probably not coming to America or Europe, just like Mist of Chaos and any other RPG that's been announced for the PS3 (except the heavy hitters, but that's why this is for the niche audience).

From the given screenshots, the game appears to be a sort of strategy-RPG, action-RPG, standard-RPG all rolled into one. We can't read Japanese, so we can't really tell you much about it. All we know is that our hands are screaming for a current generation JRPG and the Square Enix titles aren't hitting until 2008. Other than White Knight Story (also 2008, presumably), there's really been nothing on the role playing front from Japan for the PS3. It makes us sad. Well, keep your fingers crossed for a worldwide release of Tears to Tiara, even though we doubt it will happen. It looks like it would have been neat.

2. This is actually rather annoying news for me. As a fan of JRPG's it's sad to see that there isn't much love coming our way. There was so much love on the PS2 that I hope developers start bringing them over.

5. But I found an actual link for the site.

Apparently, it was a Windows game in 2005.

6. Jrpgs are the main reason I got a ps3... there better be more coming. Hell, it's the reason my girlfriend paid for half of it, she's more of a jrpg fan than I am (much more). But at this rate, I'll need a 360 for Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, not to mention Eternal Sonata which I'm still waiting for ps3 confirmation (release data?).

Yes, I tend to like Sony's first part games so it's not a total loss so far, plus MS admitting 100% of 360s are defective makes me feel better about not owning one, but I'm still waiting for next-gen jrpgs!

btw, Enchanted Arms sucked.

7. i'm a RPG fan an one reason why i got the ps3 was the espectation of excelent RPG's like i got in my ps2, but as everibody i ask, "were are all the ps3 ROG's?", we see high quality RPG's on 360's line the upcomings lost odissey and mass effect, wen we? sony? de we need to w8 for FF13 for the second RPG of quality? (Oblivion rocks).
and in this wave, were are the next gen MMORPG's on ps3? once again 360's will have conan online, etc and we?, i'm a ps3fanboy but in RPG's this generation os playstation is sucking big time.
(sory for my "engrish") =)

8. For a moment there I thought you were saying we were missing out on a Megaten game. That Tears to Tiara hardly looks like it's worth the bother to bring over.
While I wouldn't mind Eternal Sonata on PS3, Blue Dragon sucks big time. The graphics are really bad and bland (not just down to Cel-Shading as the equally cartoony Eternal Sonata looks decent) and the battle system is slow and clunky like an early PS2 game. Seriously there's no reason any next-gen turn based RPG should have problems loading as fast as Xenosaga 3.

9. Their are a lot of reasons why there aren't a lot of JRPG's on the PS3 yet. One being that the Playstation 3 just barely launched. I'm sure they will come, we just have to wait. I mean its only just now we're getting some pretty good RPG's on the PSP and the DS. I don't think any console launched with a JRPG, I could be wrong. At any case, to wrap this up, Aysir you must be smoking something. Blue Dragon looks pretty awesome visually (gameplay is OK). And as for the Eternal Sonata (ES) on PS3, I check the ESRB website and I couldn't find it. I'm pretty sure ES is a timed exclusive. I mean, if ex-PS3 exclusive games go to the 360, it can work the other way around too right? In the meantime, we can still play PS2 JRPG's on our PS3. Persona 3 here I come!

Sonata is 360 exclusive as are Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. THe ESRB screwed up on ES

New Tales game on PS3 please... I'll be very sad if they downgrade to the Wii!
