New Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer tomorrow on the PSN

Just when it looked like there wasn't going to be any interesting updates today over at the Sony's PlayStation.Blog, Patrick Seybold, the senior manager of PR, announced that the new Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer will be available to download from the PlayStation Store immediately following the Sony conference tomorrow. According to Patrick, Konami and Kojima Productions just finished the last touches on the trailer early today and even offers support for 5.1 surround sound, something sure to please the hardcore MGS-philes.

This E3 keeps getting more and more exciting. It's awesome that Sony has followed Microsoft's lead and is increasing the ability for the consumer to experience all the amazing stuff going on at E3 through their online stores. Unlike the last 'new' trailer, this one is suppose to actually be all new content. Hopefully we'll finally get some shots of real gameplay (unlikely) or at very least a new environment with less pooping, mooing deathbots. Oh Hideo, why must you tease us so?

1. You know, for a game that is supposedly coming to the 360, Sony seems to be giving this title a lot of love and attention...

2. Its not coming to 360 if they still want Sony (via Columbia) to foot the bill for the MGS movie.

3. mccomber:
What are you talking about?

I mean, sure... Sony is funding the MGS movie. Sure, Sony has always been the primary platform for MGS games. And yeah, I'll grant that the MGS trailer is being shown at the Konami conference and the Sony conference, and nowhere else. And true, Hideo Kojima said it would only work on the PS3, but still man. You're missing the point!!

Wait... what was the point... oh yeah.

MGS 4 exclusive to the PS3. :)

4. Wow, Humpty makes a good point here. I guess he's been watching alot of Entourage like me. :)

I can't wait to see how this game turns out. Even if it's a timed exclusive, a year later, nobody will care because they've already played it on their PS3s.

5. no poop!? it just wouldn't be mgs without something pooping or someone get hit in the nads

6. Yessssss!!!

I guess another key point is that it'll be online immediately following the Sony keynote, suggesting that it's being highlighted more as a PS3 game rather than a Konami game. Now there's some good reading between the lines to counter the continuous MGS defection rumblings!

Now where's Andrew with some Killzone news? That screenshot from earlier today has put some wariness in my heart.

7. I can,t get over people posting crap about games being exclusive and all .....

All i want to do is play the game... i don,t care what its on ... let the 13 year old kids cry about things they don,t understand

"Hideo Kojima said it would only work on the PS3"

Not Ture..... he said it could be done on other systems but the PS3 is sexy =S ture... (beats me)

8. Kojima made an analogy about the kind of experience each console is good for, and related that to the kind of experience he wants for MGS4.

Honestly though, if this had appeared at the Konami lineup I would have wondered about it being exclusive. Appearing at the Sony conference only? Yeah, no multi-platform plans.

Honestly, I don't think there's a market for it on the 360. For every 360 owner that's posted "yay, I might get to play it if this rumor is true" there have been 50 that post "360 FTW Sony is finished". Hardly anyone wants it to play, they just want to say it's not exclusive.

9. @trev: Not true, the 50 that post "360 FTW Sony is finished" will just download the 12 ISOs, burn them, and then play the game. Albeit to the tune of: "Wow, this sucks!", "Gears rulez dis game!", and (my favorite) "Look, daddy! I gotz teh gaem from da intartuuubes!" =D
