In a recent interview in Dengeki magazine, Nomura shouted out to the sexy black box: "The PS3 is the machine that is closest to being able to express our imagination." He also mentions how pretty the graphics are and the unlimited amount of movement can be slapped in their games in one go. We're glad he thinks so, especially with the profound change Final Fantasy XIII will be for the franchise. He plans "to give people the taste of actually being part of that world. The assignment here is whether we can build an FF with the suspense and thrill of Third-Person-Shooting or not." What can we say? We want more Gunblade.

Have you noticed that people complaining about the difficulty of the architecture are only dev houses that have popped up in the last generation? Yeah, because 6 months at Podunk Tech makes you an expert on hardware. Most of these guys are green, sold on the "rainbows and gumdrops" view of careers in games, and have only learned enough C++ to find their way around Visual Studio. If you showed them ASM or COBOL their brains would probably melt.
Anyway, rant aside, it's good to see there are still devs that see new hardware as an exciting opportunity instead of an obstacle eating away at their bottom line.

Why is only the PS3 that dev's either love or hate. You never hear much about what devolopers think about 360 or the Wii. It is diffinatly advanced hardware and that could potentially scare some dev's who are either less experienced or realize it is too expensive for their company's budget.

@3. Because people tend to focus on the negative, when something works fine most people won't utter a word but the second there's something they don't like they don’t hold back their words.
It’ll be interesting to see how big FFXIII is as FFXII was only a single layer DVD, while I’m all for CGI and cutscenes if they add to the atmosphere I hope they are all skippable so playing through the game a second time isn’t a chore.

The best machines are always the hardest to code, and get the devs to bitch and whine like little schoolgirls. Here's a few truths: Devs complained about the PS2 being too difficult, as did they complain about the C64, which they also complained about Windows, and also Dos. The only time they don't complain is when they are so used to something (like DirectX) that they reuse 90% of the code from their last game - which is why certain games from certain companies (I won't mention here - EA!) always seem to have similar or familiar bugs in them. =/ Sad, but true.
