PlayStation Underground survey hints at PSP-PS3 possibilities

This one's coming from user sqrtlsqd7 over at the PS3Forums. We've all gotten those e-mails from PlayStation Underground about new releases on the PS Store, or little announcements about games coming out, just released, or off in the distance. What sqrtlsqd7 brings to our attention is something we had nearly forgotten about -- surveys. When we first signed up for the PlayStation Network, we took a survey. But these questions were not found there.

If you can't read the screenshot above, Sony is asking about what you'd like to see with PSP/PS3 connectivity. The ideas highlighted are:
  • Side missions or unlockables for PS3 games on the PSP,
  • Transferring media wirelessly to the PSP (not just what we've got now, we mean broadcast television and new levels for games),
  • Using your PSP while playing the PS3 as additional weapon or utility (radar, 2nd controller, etc),
  • Recording your gameplay for boasting abilities later on in life.
These ideas are interesting. It sort of reminds us of the connectivity between the GameCube and GameBoy Advance, specifically in regards to Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and the Game Boy Fire Emblem games. Except, you know, with a lot more options available. What do you guys think? Would more advanced connectivity options with the PSP get your juices flowing? Would you snag a slim PSP if these proposed ideas came to fruition?

1. i think after spending a lot of money and time on extra accessories and "connectivity" devices over the last decade that it always ends up being more $$ and trouble than it's worth. i remember (i love nintendo so shush) nintendo PREACHING connectivity with the Cube and the GBA, you just had to have it, and it was useful for what, 4 games? things like this always end up as cash for companies with little payoff for the consumers. consoles should be self sufficient. especially now at $599.

2. I'd like some classic unlockables you can download to your psp. For example, it'd be nice if you could download the original Ninja Gaiden from Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Or if you could take some of the PSN games on the go, piyotama for example.

Some sort of use in game, like how the pokedex functions in pokemon. It could be used as an electronic user manual for all games. In folklore(folksoul) it could be used to give information about the monsters.

Just simple things that really don't effect the game, but add onto it. Perhaps a novel about the background story or overall story line people could download to their psp and read on the go. Or Like a rear view mirror in GT5.

3. Could they make it so my DS works with the PS3?

4. why can't psp have 5 free old game to download not demos i upgraded to version 3.50 i get demo but not psx games. i guess the upgrade don't include free movie or music to show case their problem people now want to downgrade.

5. I didn't know this was that big or I would have cut and paste all the questions. I figured everyone got this questionnaire...

6. These options would be great and get me using my psp more. That is something sony has over microsoft and wii couldnt do thos ideas. second controller would be fun.

7. AEX : Thats a great idea. Ninja Gaiden OG on th PSP would rock balls.

8. PSP connectivity should be used for such things like, a GPS for Battlefield: bad company for instance or on games like full auto battlelines using it as a rocket cam, or what about GRAW 2 i.e cross coms etc!.

9. PSP/PS3 connectivity would be awsome. I've always loved the idea of Sony's Location free player and the Slingbox and if that could all be done via the PS3 to my PSP it would save having to fork out £200 for one of the other two devices (and save some space under my TV).

I always liked games that had additional content that could be used on the big screen as well as little screen (didnt they make a pokemon game on the N64 that linked to the gameboy version somehow?). The tank radar Idea is great. But how would you hold it as well as the controller. How about building it into a steering wheel and using it as your rear view mirror in gt5?
