According to IGN Square Enix character designer Tetsuya Nomura has issued the strongest denial of a Final Fantasy VII remake yet. In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Dorimaga, he said, "It appears that there are often overseas rumors like 'Are you currently developing a VII remake?' My apologies, but we're absolutely not making [such a game]."Okay? It's not being worked on. Nomura did give the fanboys some good news though, as he went on to say that it will almost definitely be remade at some point, since it's something that even a lot of his coworkers want and Square Enix isn't ignorant of what the fans want. As he said, "As long as there are people who want to make it and people who are waiting for it, we don't want to proclaim 'the end.'"
While the denial may disappoint some fans, it was always a pretty nebulous rumor in the first place. Square Enix is kind of busy right now working on their epic 10-year-arc of Final Fantasy XIII, and it seems unlikely that they'd have the time or resources to remake of their most famous and loved RPG of all time. They knows that it's not going to be able to pass the muster of the critics and fans unless they really give it the royal treatment, and it seems likely they'll wait until they're able to give FFVII the attention it deserves. So for those jonesing for a Final Fantasy fix, you'll be waiting until next -unless you have a PSP. There's damn blizzard of Final Fantasy games coming out for the PS3's little brother this fall!

They are most likely gonna wait until FF13 comes out so they can gauge the PS3 sales to see if it will be worthwhile for them to remake it. I hope it stays PS3 exclusive but it could also go to the 360. Either way, I just want a remake. Hopefully square starts working on it soon.

What I would really like to come out after they make FFXIII is a SEQUEL to FFVII (not a remake or a movie),but a FULL RPG SEQUEL to FFVII! Has anyone else feel the the same as I do? It's nice to replay the game with new gfx and content, but I'll really like to see a final ending to FFVII. The ending "after the credits" of Dirge of Cerberus showed a good sign of a sequel. So who doesn't want to see Could fighting Genesis in FFVII-2: Final Reunion. Well we can only hope.

Then what about my Chrono trigger? Square listens to fans my ass. They may listen, but they don't act.
Wheres a TRUE sequal to this great series? And not one involving alternate dimentions. The fucking Chrono stands for time, and that was what made the game so groundbreaking. I want to see them put this great system back into action. Imagine what the PS3 could produce, real time morphing land-scapes changing before your eyes as you interact with time.
GIMME DAMMIT!
(or I'll even settle for just a remake or something for GBA)

i remember they said your accessories and battle armor would show up in the actual game engine for the remake if they did it.
i liked the original and it's charm but i think their were some things that could've benefited from an enhanced game engine.
FF 7 is my fav all time FF. i hope they remake it.

FFVII is hands down my favorite game ever. I got it for my 17th birthday when it came out. It was my first RPG and one of my first PS1 games. I am still playing it today. In fact, since Advent Children came out I've played and beaten FFVII several times.
Before I say this next part let me just say that I would LOVE a FFVII remake!!
BUT!.......
Seriously as powerful as the PS3 is, I don't think anything this generation can do it justice in my eyes.
I need that "awe" factor back. I need that same feeling of wonder that I had looking at the FMV's and the graphics back when I first played FFVII. I need to be shocked at the increadible scope of this game. It took me roughly 80 hours to beat it the first time...that floored me. My favorite game before this was SNATCHER (Sega CD) and that took me a little over 4 hours to beat.
A FFVII remake NEEDS to redefine gaming to live up to the original. And I really just don't see that happening with current hardware and software---as limitless as they are percieved to be, I don't think the PS3 or anything else can take it far enough.
