Stranglehold cover system is all about being temporary

Not only is John Woo's Stranglehold making headlines due to its clever inclusion of Hard Boiled (the prequel film to the game from the early 90's), but the cover system has been described as akin to the super-classic classic Space Invaders. We'd like to call it a better Gears of War cover system -- you know, where those pillars and whatnot will actually get shot away in a matter of seconds.

Not only will couches, pillars and other such objects used as cover get shot to bits while Inspector Tequila sits behind them, but he will automatically crouch down to use whatever cover is left. That's pretty cool. Many times we've wondered how we can hide behind something and avoid enemy fire when we can clearly see that our head and leg are sticking out. Along with the inclusion of Blu-ray movies, nifty cover mechanics, and famous action heroes, we wonder: will this game surprise a lot of us, or prove mediocre?

1. I'm amazed it has taken this long to actually happen in a shooter. :Z

2. Couches won't stop a bullet anyway. Why would you crouch down behind one in the first place? :) Will they make the bullets sail right through the couch into the player like would happen in real life? Hell, car doors won't even stop bullets.

Furniture in Gears of War does get blasted to pieces, though. Pillars, not so much.

3. They should really release a demo or at least a new gameplay video. Not to state the obvious, but the game looks like Max Payne crossed with Dead To Rights with amazing graphics. I'm not sure that'll be enough to impress many people. Still hoping for the best though.

Has anyone else noticed that there seem to be some troubling framerate hitches when there's lots of destruction going on? It's not a good sign when even the videos they release to publicize the game suffer from it.

4. "We'd like to call it a better Gears of War cover system"

Because we all know that cover wasnt destructable are used very well in Gears.(sarcasm)

I bet you would also like to say that Gears is overrated and it wasnt that good, but you can't lol:)(at least not objectively)
