Resistance patch on its way - new maps and worldwide servers

In a recent visit to Insomniac, Gamespy were able to play on some new maps for Resistance: Fall of Man. Whilst there they got their hands on the details for the upcoming patch which should be out before the end of the month. Be sure to check out the full hands on preview for the maps, Westmorland and Camborne, over at Gamespy.

The patch itself will contain some much-requested features from the Resistance community. Obviously, the full patch notes are unobtainable right now, but Gamespy have revealed a couple of more noteworthy additions. First and foremost, the currently regional servers are being opened up to allow worldwide play. So for those of us who imported a console to find that you could only play against people on the other side of the world, this comes as a welcome development. The patch will also allow you to access your PSN buddy list from inside the game, include a 'tell-the-teacher' feature in the mute menu and make enemies and allies easier to differentiate in online mode.

Sounds jam packed full of goodness to us. It should be out before the end of May in the US and Japan, with a European release shortly after that. Check out Gamespy's full account of their visit to Insomniac for more info.

PS3 + F1 Championship (game) + 2 Blu-Ray DVD of your choice (probably two Pirate movies)

pretty sweet too, but F1 Championship sucks

4. what about canada, what about CANADA! i was wondering if you can post things about canadian releases also, so like for example, "ps3 camera out in japan us, and Canada!" i dont see much canadian things ^^ could be wonderful if you did

5. That futureshop deal is a really great deal for any Canadians who have not picked up a PS3 yet.

F1 is actually the best looking game for the PS3 so far. The sixaxis steering is one of the best implemented uses of motion sensor so far. Fun game but I am suprised future shop didn't include instead of F1 NHL 2K7.

Resistance is a really great online game. I am just to cheap to pay for the maps. Do they have vehicles?

6. @kingofwhale, massive_98

When the PS3 was launched in Canada, it only cost $650 Canadian. However, a few months later the price was increased to $700 due to a decrease in the value of the Canadian dollar at that time. Today, the dollar is higher than it was in November and the conversion of $600 American is $648.360 Canadian but we still have to pay $700 Canadian for a 60GB PS3. Instead of lowering the price, Futureshop has been adding-on excess games and accessories the last few weeks. If they added a game I would like to have for my PS3 when I buy it in one of their deals (ex. Resistance, Motorstorm) I would consider buying it now. Until then, I won't buy a PS3 until the price returns to $650 Canadian at the least.

8. please sean, dont tell stupid things. There is no price at all written in the article for the map pack. And for sure, it wont be 7.99 just for 2 maps. They are not that stupid at Sony.

10. Instead of posting on just US, JP and EU releases, why not make one post of what has been released in each country/group of countries

11. Nice to see some more Resistance fun.

12. it really is 7.99 for the two maps. i seen it on the thread about theupdate. i thought it was also on the site. just log on to then go to forum>online play>worldwide update. its about 93 pages long but i think the mod edited it into the first post.

Posted at 6:03AM on May 28th 2007 by sean

13. I just searched the whole MyResistance board and there's NO reference what so ever to a 7.99 price tag.

14. its exactly where i said it was look into the part in the online play that has all the posts that are stickied. here is the exact quote.

"The two maps (Camborne and Westmorland) will together cost US$7.99 and can be purchased on Resistance: Fall of Man online or via the PlayStation Store. They will be released the same time in the US and JP, but EU might be a week delayed because of the amount of difference languages in Europe. Insomniac will obviously try to push Sony to release them all on the same date, but we can't promise anything"

15. All blind...

What's it say there? $7,99 for the two maps. Happy now?

If that doesn't convince you, check out the interview with Ted Price and hear it for yourself.

Khaliel, before you call someone stupid, look at yourself at the mirror. Think before you talk mate.

16. What about 720p only, rez thing. I have been patiently waiting for the upscale fix. I will not play the game at 480p.
