PS3 Poll Police: What kind of game are you really sick of?

Welcome back to another edition of the PS3 Fanboy Poll Police. We're going to crack down on the biggest offenders this week -- namely, those games that seem to saturate the market and induce a wave of eye-rolling when a new one is announced. We're not out to pounce on developers for making certain types of games. We just want to warn them that, while we're in a new console cycle, maybe they should branch out and try to make something different. Without further ado, our poll.

What type of game are you just plain sick of?
Sandbox games!
"Street" style racing games!
Driving Sims!
Those pesky 3-D fighters!
World War II themed games!
Japanese Role-Playing games
Western RPGs (there's a difference)!
Artsy-fartsy games!
These classic arcade titles!
Actually, I love all games equally ... free polls

Have fun voting for this one -- it's tough to choose for us. If you want to see the results of last week's poll, go ahead and click over to the continued section.

As you can see, after the incredibly positive Gamer's Day, a lot of you grew anxious for many different games. While we expected a blow-out anticipation for Heavenly Sword, their showing was lacking and the votes reflected that. The winner is Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for plowing out some of the most impressive screenshots we've seen for the PS3 yet. Thanks for voting guys!

1. Can I change my vote from LittleBigPlanet to Folklore? After I’ve seen the trailer on the (Japanese) PSN, I’m so totally sold ^_^.

2. Why isn't the movie tie in category in there?

3. I voted "World War II themed games!" because those are mostly FPS games and that's really what I'm pissed at. It seems like everyone has a first person shooter now and it really annoys me. They are so tired and played out. Thought there are some WWII games that are not FPS, so I had to shun those games and abuse the listing to entitle all FPS games. Sorry WWII non-FPS titles!

4. Who voted for sandbox games? Why is that even on the list? I am tired of movie games as well. Surfs Down!

Posted at 4:27PM on May 27th 2007 by massive_98

5. I voted for sandbox games although if it was on the list I would've voted for movie based games. The question says "sick of". I still like sandbox games but get bored easy playing anything but GTA. I even get bored with GTA(San Andreas) after playing for 20 minutes at a time.

GTA 4 should be able to breath some new life into the sandbox style though.

I just made it. Doesn't it suck?

7. Wheres the first person shooter option?

Posted at 5:57PM on May 27th 2007 by Taylor B

8. Well i voted for WWII fps', even though i like FPS' WWII games bore me, and i really hate Tom Clancy and his games.

I love Half-Life though, but anyway there's only one type of game that annoys me more than WWII games, it should be added to the list also, and that is:

Crappy Gimmicky Collection of Mini Games games, i'm looking at you Rayman Raving Rabbids and Warioware. And like half of the Nintendo DS' catalog of games.

Can you believe there's already going to be a Rayman Raving Rabbids 2? Exclusively on wii, later on this year. Not even a years gap from the last game, shows how much effort those games take.

9. Naturally, all the haters are going to be sick of the best game on the PS3, not surprised, the poll should read: "What game are PS3 haters most jealous about?"

Yea that fits a little better, don't you think??

10. Talking about Resistance: Fall of Man for the slow people out there.

11. RTS's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted at 7:20PM on May 27th 2007 by Major Mauser

12. Where the hell is the category for FPS games? I would vote for WWII games if I felt it completely covered the completely overrepresented genre of First Person Shooters. It seems everyone nowadays has to make one, whether its with space marines, World War 2 soldiers, or special forces in some random jungle/mid-east war torn city/ generic base.

This has been my biggest gripe with the xbox, and it seems to be the same way with the 360. Tons of FPS's and a lack of representation from everything else. There needs to be some sort of shake-up, or else they will suffer the same fate as other genre's that get too derivative.

13. It sickens me to see how many people voted for classic arcade titles. I'm guessing those who voted for that category are a bunch of 10 year olds who do not appreciate classics. The kind of people that look at Contra or Street Fighter and say "The graphics suck".

Posted at 8:40PM on May 27th 2007 by Joe

14. ummm i voted for sports games that are rehashed over and over and over and over and over with nothing but roster changes...

sports games suck.

15. Thats the problem with the PS3. Excellent for movies but games are coming alot slower.

Posted at 10:26PM on May 27th 2007 by massive_98

16. @14

street fighter you say? I dont see it on my psn... contra? again, not on my psn. I freaking love these games! but as this is a ps3 site, the arcade classics we havve are fucking joust and rampart? rampage and mortal combat are iffy, i didn't buy them. Contra and Street fighter may be on the 360, (i still didnt buy them, i have the old cartridges still)
but people on this site dont care about that.

Im 25, I lived the nes days and loved it. If they put some REAL classics, like some mega-man or contra, yeah, id be lovin me some arcade classics. There sould be an option for CRAPPY arcade classics. I can't wait till the library builds. And I want me some achievements! There my favorite thing about the 360, and the only reason i would buy a multiplatform game on that console.

I think that even people who loved joust only bought it cause there were no better options.

EDIT: i agree with your point, i just feel that even people who did love these games, know that they are just cheap fillers as they test the networks and work on the harder better games. And yeah, little bastard kids these days wouldn't last 1 stage of any nes game. no respect for the classics. the idea of having a set amount of lives no longer exists... am i the only one who misses that? sure, its frusterating, waa waa... go cry to mommy.

17. This poll is completely and utterly pointless without "FPS" as an option.

Posted at 2:42AM on May 28th 2007 by James

18. I put western RPG's because I'm yet to see one that isn't related to Dungeons&Dragons in some way.
Am I wrong in thinking this?

Posted at 8:21AM on May 28th 2007 by Geinfish

19. I'm with Pas on the movie tie-in games. and in general anything that's top down. don't like it one bit.

Posted at 4:10PM on May 28th 2007 by steve

20. I agree with massive, the movie games are horrible. Please stop it.
