It's no secret that Namco Bandai is a huge advocate of Sony and the PlayStation 3 -- just like how Capcom might be a huge advocate for Microsoft and the XBox 360. There's no shame in it. Every developer and publisher might find their niche in certain hardware and dev kits. That's why when Namco Bandai (hereafter known as NamBan for the heck of it) released their earning statements for the period ending March 31st, we must rejoice at their success.First up, NamBan's full year profits were in the green with a 71% growth, despite slower-than-expected sales of the PS3 and its games. The last quarter ending saw an increase of 1.8% in net sales (about $3.83 billion). Most game sales were generated in Japan, with heavy hitters including Gundam, Tamagotchi (seriously?), and Power Rangers (seriously!).
They're doing well and expect to increase further next year. They propose a 4.5% increase to net sales, operating income to rise 6.6%, and net income to go up by about 9.3%. None of this matters, though, unless we go out and buy their games. So, everyone together now, let's say that tired line we know and love: Riiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer! Break!

milking Power Ranger franchise is even worse than milking Gundam or Mario franchise. lol
sad thing is, people still buy it. *sighs*

Theyre smart... jump out the gate when a new Sony sytem drops, everyone cops their weak ass games (RR, Gundam) and duck out! How can you not make a profit!

To be fair, a lot of developers didn't make squat on their PS3 games. Wonder why so much is multiplatform? That's why. Not every game that failed to make a profit is a shitty game. After all, Red Steel was a shitty game, and Ubisoft made a huge profit.

Very true. I'm hoping at least one Gundam game turns out to be fun. Of course, Namco-Bandai will refuse to put online play into Mobile Suit Gundam Front 0079, and I'll be forced to dropkick someone.

i think namco has a lot of franchises they can tap into and when timed right don't take too much work to make right and sell big. there's no way they put in any REAL effort into RR, tekken5 DR, katamari, etc nor should they. gamers by now know what to expect, good not crappy games that are not mind blowingly expensive to produce AAA either.
