Toddlers are dangerous creatures. Especially when they get their hands on expensive gadgets. This life lesson comes to you via 1UP Editor John Davison, who recently discovered it for himself when his two sons woke up early one morning wanting to play video games.
It seems Davison keeps his PS3 and his Xbox 360 in a less-than-well ventilated entertainment unit. Usually this is of no consequence as the two consoles are rarely running together. Davison also makes sure to keep the doors open whenever the PS3 is running. Unfortunately on this particular morning his wee-est nipper decided to play along with the older brother as he played on the Xbox 360. To make a short story shorter, the toddler pushed the PS button on the SIXAXIS controller (which was obviously the young lad's controller of choice when pretending to play - such good taste at such a young age), causing the PLAYSTATION 3 to fire up.
And fire up it did. The temperature within the unventilated entertainment unit shot up, initiating some kind of Scandinavian sauna challenge between the two consoles. As the 360 started showing signs of its encroaching Red Ring of Death, the PS3 was still going strong. In the end Sony's behemoth emerges victorious. And the 360? Don't ask, it's not pretty.
Oh well. I guess it's perfect timing. Time to go pick up one of those Xbox 360 Elite's I've heard so much about, right?

Why the hell does this settle anything!? To say that because PS3 puts out enough heat to suffocate the 360 means...the PS3 puts out more heat than the 360. Sure the PS3 has a higher tolerance for heat. That's because it turns on like a jet turbine when it gets too hot. Is it really a positive that the PS3 wins because it can get louder and hotter than the 360?
You dumbasses make it sound like the two consoles are LITERALLY locked in gladitorial combat. If the components that comprise the consoles talked, they would say "Dude, what is these people's problem."

@Edge of Blade
It's simple, at the same temperature level, one console fails and one doesn't, It doesn't take a genius (or an idiot) to figure out what's what.
riiiight? ;)

@Edge of Blade, "the PS3 puts out more heat than the 360."
I do not see how from the facts you can deduce that the PS3 puts out more heat. It could be putting out the same heat, or less. Either way their *combined* heat makes the 360 malfunction, and not the PS3.

The X360 blog doesn't bash PS3 like this. This has got to be one of the worst and most unprofessional blogs I have ever read.

i swear these guys have just about no developments to report on the PS3, no new game releases, no new anything so they have to settle for this kind of stuff.
did u idiots ( translation PS3Fanboys ) ever realize that the 360 was gaming aka running at full capacity while the PS3 was idling ( what else is it good at ) so the 360 would have heated faster and would be sucking in more air than the PS3 !! a crash course in thermodynamics for you non-engineering retards ( aka PS3Fanboys again ) , if something is hotter than the other and you blow more hot air on it than the other it becomes hotter than the other.
get the facts straight before ranting off.

It's no seceret that the XBox 360 cooling sucks compared to the PS3's.
All the consoles have ther pro's and cons, and we all know a con of the 360 is that it has the worst cooling sytem of any console available.

Possibly the worst explanation of the idea of Entropy I've ever heard from anybody.
and you think you have the right to call anybody else 'retards'? Dropping out engineering program doesn't make you smart, you know. :)

I don't see any bashing like over here. X360 Blog doesn't make a post just to point out PS3's problems. I admit that X360 has very bad ventilation but it's has three friggin PowerPC cores in it. It's in a very small package. It's not a friggin computer, it's a console. And if you have to bash the x360 to get readers and support, then I am utterly right when I say that this is one of the most unprofessional blogs I have ever read.

Alex, matjet has already made a nice collection of links in post #12 - check them out
Almost every post in PS3fanboy you get some MS troll with some stupid comment - but they cant face the fact that the 360 is a dirty-smelling pos. 3 power PC cores? The PS2 has 7 and doesnt burn and die like the 360 does. And thats despite the fact that the 360 had to keep the power adaptor thing separate to reduce heating.

I have to agree with 14. When I first started going to this site there was almost no XB360 bashing at all. I was only honest news. I am the first person to point out why the PS3 is better than the 360 but there is no reason for all this fanboy wars.

I learned something here today. Give a kid the choice of a 360 or PS3 and they will pick the 360.

Oh, and rfom, the PS3 has one core with seven cells. This is what makes cross platform development so frustrating. The PS3 is great at multiple calculations, while the 360 is awesome with RAM and has a different CPU architecture.

I cant believe that people think ps3 is better cause 360 overheats first. Thats the most rediculous thing ive ever heard. I own a 360. Remember when AMD use to over heat more than Intel? Remember when AMD's speed Whooped up on intel (not the factor anymore thought :))
Moral of the story. Maybe its hotter cause ITS FASTER!!! Less cores = > speed per core :o All of you 360 bashers are insane... I bet some AS5 would make the 360 last longer than the ps3 unvented.
