Effective immediately, Sony and Insomniac Games are instigating a ban policy on Resistance: Fall of Man. What do you need to look out for, else you'll get the axe from Insomniac? We'll tell you because we know you don't want to get banned from the game (permanently) and have your PlayStation Network account suspended.- Offensive clan names or user names. If you've combined one with the other to create words or phrases violating the EULA (something something language association). That means no more Pen-15 jokes.
- No cheating/exploiting! I still don't know why people cheat in a game whose outcome determines absolutely nothing about your life... seriously, if you need to cheat to win, you lose. Lame? Sure. But it's true. Grow up and test your skill against someone else like a grown-up. If you suspect someone of using a lag device or some other exploitation of the game, send a private message to the MyResistance.net "cheating" account (username: cheating). These cheats aren't allowed in any game, public or private.
It's worth noting that the offensive names earn you a permanent ban, but cheating gets you a 24-hour ban. This extends for each additional time you're caught. Moderators will join games, but you won't see them. So they're watching. Don't cheat, guys. It proves nothing except you don't believe in your abilities to play the game normally and still kick ass.

and the 360 fanboys say that free means nothing, as in no moderators, bad online system, etc. with this, I laugh at their faces that XBL is a rip off.

makes sense they perm ban you for your user name, I mean its not like you can change it right? and an offensive name is still going to be offensive in 24 hrs.

I say a 72 hour ban for those caught exploiting the "glitches" in the maps.
It is SO annoying to get picked off by some dude way up in the mountains on a 1-hit-kill game. Then again, it's even more annoying when someone enables 1-hit-kills in a CTF game....because you know, I love when one round takes the entire day...

Stop making one hit kill games. Nobody likes em.
Are there glitches like the ones in Resistance in every shooter?
(this is the first online shooter I have played)

I've always taken a hard-line against "cheating" in PvP play (although i've always advocated an "anything goes" policy for non-competitive MMOs)
But i define cheating as editing the code processes of the game (Action Replay, GameShark, Code Breaker, hex editing, whatever)
I say, if its in the code, developers should either patch it, or shut the hell up...
A ban policy is good, but i always have misgivings...

There are glitches in many online games. But they generally eventually get patched when they are able to aka a recreatable glitch not just once in a blue moon sort of thing.

It is hard to define what is a glitch or cheating some times. I have heard some people call it glitching to find a way to climb on a wall but that seems silly to me as you can still be seen and shot. When I think of abusing a glitch I think of someone clipping a wall or something to go somewhere they cant get hurt or get an advantage over others. And some glitches are just to be silly my cousin showed me a glitch in Call of Duty 2 where if crouched just right by a grenade and not die your animation would mess up and look pretty funny.
I grew up in a day of PC FPS's where you could Rocket/BFG/Grenade Jump and get to some interesting locals that some might consider as cheating reguardless of the skill required to master those technics.
But at the end of the day there really is no way for developers to think of every possible combination and all it takes is someone finding a hole in the map and they start causing trouble. So the responsible good sportman thing to do if you find a bug is to tell the developers how to recreate it so they can patch it.

I know, they should patch it. But they shouldn't ban people who use an in-game glitch if they have no intent to patch it. It's just lazy. that's all i'm saying

24 hour ban doesnt seem very intimidating. But I guess if it increases each time its alright. I'd like to see a week long ban. Something that would make people think twice about being a dick.
Some punk kept messaging me the other night, He came in 1st place and I was like 3rd or something, so I don't know what his problem could have been (and no i wasnt sniping or larking). he had around 3000 rounds played so he wasnt just a renter having fun. The ass just kept messaging me, so I kept replying back making fun of him. wish i knew abou tthis then, or hadn't deleted his messages.

I got banned yesterday for 2 days when ps3 sent me an email saying only 1 day. For a glitch in resistance fall of man online everyone was using to go on buildings to gain advantage over others. I never new there would be such thing as banning but they should at least give people a warning because its not fair. I dont like it when people cheat but if they do it to you. You are forced to cheat as well to win the game.
The glitch when your playing capture the flag in somerset there is a wall close to where your flag is where if you run at the wall and jump at the same time your character will all of a sudden leap over the wall and u will be able to move around outside the map and go on top of buildings and sniper people from the most impossible positions.
