"Capcom is committed to making its titles available to as wide an audience as possible, and has been building its technology base to meet that goal," said Mark Beaumont , executive vice president, officer and head of Capcom consumer software publishing in the Americas and Europe said in the latest press release.
While making the game accessible to the largest audience possible is admirable, Sony must now ensure that they do not lose further exclusives. Currently, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII are still slated for PS3-exclusive release, but Sony must make every effort that Konami and Square Enix don't follow suit.

Capcom: OOooohh me likey invitations to Paul Allen's yacht. Thanks you for the large cash donation Microsoft, don't worry we won't say anything.
Microsoft: If 360 sales go up so do your bank accounts, those secret bank accounts.
That's exactly how it happenned.

Damn, that is friggin huge. Can't wait to hear the xbox fanboys on this one...
Looks like this generation is going to be all about the first-party titles as far as exclusives for the ps3 go. Luckily we've got some strong IPs. Definitely going to be that much more important for Sony to keep FF and MGS...
Wonder how long they've been working on the other platforms, or if this really is a new decision they've made.

This is good news for me as a multi console owner, I'm glad DMC 4 will be coming out to the 360. I'm hoping however that Sony will be able to keep the rest of their exclusives as going multi platform would have made my purchase of a PS3 useless.

This is really no surprise. The PS3 has not taken off as expected, it does not have the installed base the 360 does, and 360 owners have been really receptive of Capcom offerings.
Don't blame Microsoft. Sony created this issue when it set the pricing for the PS3.
If the PS3 weren't so expensive, we wouldn't be talking about this.

@8 your an idiot, capcom is looking out for themselves and trying to make as much money as they can.
@7 your right, some competition is healthy, i own a 360 and Ps3 and i like to be able to pick and choose, besides now that sony(and microsoft, since im sure their "exclusives" will also start "selling out" also) cant sit back and live off of these games they have to work to impress us, the consumer. we all saw what happened when EA got the exclusive rights to the NFL, we got crappy-to-mediocre games that we didnt have any alternatives to.
of course this could all backfire and in trying to go cross platform they could take short cuts and really eff up the game.

Exactly. Games these days are too bloody expensive to limit their release to only one console, when the other one is also capable of handling it as well. A lot of 360 "exclusives" are also showing up on the PS3 (Oblivion, Saint's Row, Ninja Gaiden) while others are destined to go multi-platform as well for their eventual sequels (Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Condemned, etc.).
Seriously, put yourself in Capcom's shoes. Your ultimate goal, as it is with any business, is to make money. So after shelling out $10 million to develop a title, why would you choose to release a title on only one system when you could release it on two? Unless Sony or Microsoft are willing to cut one hell of a check for you, as a third party developer, it makes very little sense to keep your game "exclusive" to one console.
What's with all the screaming though? It's not as if DMC4 is going FROM PS3 to 360. Owners of both systems will get to enjoy the title (which hopefully doesn't start a Trek-like quality fluctuation pattern), so what's the big deal? We play games to enjoy them, right? Does it really matter if Joe down the block, with his Halo 3 hoodie, also gets to enjoy the game too?
Unless your job depends on the success of Sony's console over Microsoft's (and I'll assume that applies to nobody here, since I doubt someone like Mr. Hirai is taking part in this discussion), I fail to see any significant reason for people to be "pissed off" over this news.

I think the problem people have is the company over and over again claimed that the game was exclusive. I don't have a problem with a game going multi-platform, but don't lie about it being exclusive when you had another version in development all along.

That's the only thing that I'm worried about with multi-platform. Each system is going to have strengths to exploit, and if we have to accept games that are made with both systems weaknesses in mind then everyone loses.

I'm putting myself in Capcom's shoes, but I just can't seem to be able to port Lost Planet and Dead Rising to PS3. Am I missing something? Perhaps I'm in the wrong shoes. Maybe if I was in the shoes of Capcom having an incentive NOT to port those titles... Bingo!
It's a shame that Microsoft has to resort to monopolizing tactics instead of themselves doing the work, as in doing some nice titles themselves other than Halo and buying exclusives left and right.

Plus, since it was a ps3 game ported to 360, the 3 version should look better.
