MotorStorm has been released. It's good. Evolution Studios made it. They're good. Now that we have the backstory out of the way, let's get down and dirty with the CEO of Evolution Studios, Martin Kenwright, and talk about how people should approach the PS3 and the future of gaming, including downloadable content. How should people approach development of games on the PS3?
- "I think you've got to think big now, or go home. We're in an industry full of hits, and an average product isn't good enough. You have to find an edge and I think when you look at the billions being invested in hardware, at the end of the day it's only as good as the games that being developed on that platform...You do need this scale and scope to stay at the top tier of games development."
- "We hope to show, not tell, and this is a curtain-raiser. I know that there's some amazing things we can do, and I don't want to go off and promise a load of stuff that we can't deliver, but what we can say in terms of graphics and processing power [is that] we are only hitting a fraction of what we could be doing. Our motto is, "If anyone can, Evo can," and we want to push the hardware."
- "We looked at [downloadable content] and we said that we wanted to do something fresh and exciting, underpromise and overdeliver if you will. We want to set a precedent for DLC basically. We already have 12 cars running together without any latency or slowdown, and that's a remarkable achievement beyond anything else that exists on any format. I think the experience will be great and we hope to bring you as much new content and game modes as possible."
There's a lot more discussed, but it's mostly industry babble and mostly reiteration of stuff we already know. What would you guys like to see in some downloadable content for MotorStorm?

New tracks would be my first choice. The game is very addicting and to open it more with new tracks would bring the game even more replay value.

Split-screen multiplayer if possible, new vehicles/tracks, ability to play my own music.
How about something out of left field, like car soccer or something, ooh, or Motorstorm CTF!

Of course some new maps, but 1 specific map that I want - THE FIGURE EIGHT! I remember playing those top-view cheap arcade racers with the steering wheel and you simple do loop after loop of figure eight. We see this eight (complete with center jump) in the opening sequence, and I would love to have a couple little fun tracks like that. Something less epic and more cheap fun.
I still want to see epic tracks, but I'd love just a little mini-track.

As far as Motorstorm in general, I was hoping the graphics would make up for the lack of features but unfortunately I was wrong. I still find myself wanting a multiplayer. I mean its kinda crappy to show off the game to your buds and have no multiplayer capability at all. I'm satisfied, but this isn't the killer app I was hoping for. As far as other improvements, I'd like to see an arctic track with slush instead of mud. Not so much sliding around, but i think the graphics would look cool with all of the colorful cars on an icy background. More vehicles would be good, and a gauge that compares vehicle abilities. Now I'm just kind of picking on vehicle within a set based on how cool the thing looks, not based on the capability. Like all the trucks seem the same, as do the ATVs, etc. The night tracks kinda suck. How bout some lights? I think one of the things that made mario kart cool was the familiarity with the track themes (Bowser's castle). Not that its possible, but how cool would it be to race through a level that reminded you of a level from Resistance. That would be sweet. Also in the lobby you should be able to see what lap the guys are on in the game that you want to join so you can decide if you want to wait it out. Now you don't know if you're waiting for 1 lap of 4 to be over...

@Wes: I want a figure 8 with no jump in the middle. Just a nice smooth intersection for the best T-bone action possible.

Thank you PS3 fanboy for getting in contact w/ Evolution Studios cause I have some ideas for the game, and hopefully they'll be able to incorporate some of them. I'm jut excited about the whole Motorstorm franchise, and I hope that they comeout with more racing locations.
1. New tracks
-Regular oval - dirt, rock, mud sections;
-Figure 8 track with ramp crossing, where racers are making jumps from different directions..(possible to crash in air)
-downloadable simple tracks, make them large, still but in shapes like from Super Off Road.
2. Points for making other cars crash. (mode)
3. Dukes of Hazard car for download, Speed Racer Mach 5 car download.
4. Split Screen
5. Split Screen
6. Split Screen
7. Team racing mode online... 6 on 6 (3 on 3, etc) where you try to help your team finish first, and get points for making rival team members crash.

This game is really amazing, but I can tell they only tried to perfect a couple of things and leave the rest alone. That is fine, but here's what I would add:
1) The physics system is awesome. Why not have a trick arena?
2) See #2, but add style points to the racing like SSX.
3) Two player split screen locally.
4) See #3, but with configurable options for:
4.1) Track
4.2) Car(s)
4.3) Computer opponents
4.4) Style points on or off
4.5) Laps
5) Customizable cars
5.1) Decals from PS3 hard drive.
5.2) Body styles
5.3) engine spec's
5.4) Suspension tuning
6) Customizable drivers / users
7) Obvious, but more tracks would be nice. Although the other features I consider much more exciting to offer value across existing and new tracks.
